Has Fill in the Blank, or whatever it's called, seen its last days?

I think that's "Where Are We?" today.
Happy New Year!
Slang no longer exists.

Foreign Phrase and Foreign Word are two more that they've stopped using.
Slogan used to be called $1,000 Slogan, but not exactly the same things.
Quotation I believe has been replaced by "Who Said It?"
Do they still do the song lyrics category?

Can anyone tell me what "Megaword" was, anyway? I don't remember that one.
(Must have been from the time I slacked off on game shows, from the time I
started going to school till about 2000.)
The puzzle was a long, obscure word...after solving it, the contestant would
then be asked to use it in a sentence for bonus $$$, which often resulted in
a blank stare. :-)
Chuck Donegan (The Illustrious "Chuckie Baby")
The puzzle was one long word, say about 11 or 12 letters. If the
person who solved the puzzle successfully used it in a sentence,
he/she won an additional $1,000. Not one of their best ideas.

If that's true, that's a darn shame...I thought it was a good idea, and it
lasted a pretty good while compared to all the other 'retired' categories that
have been mentioned in this thread. In fact, it lasted so long I actually
thought they might keep using that one until the day they were cancelled.
Are you talking about Fill In The Blank? If so, I agree with you. Pat even
said during numerous playings that he was amused at the contestants because
they sounded silly.
I thought, with only the missing word connecting the words in the puzzle,
that it was too often too difficult.
(Yes, I can already hear some of you laughing at the idea of Wheel ever
having been too difficult.)
And there's one category that's not on the TV show, but in the online
versions--Chain Reaction, just like the show of the same name (and
it's also an online game at Sony Station).
Isn't that just like "Before & After"?
Brandon Brooks
Nope--in the online game, a different word or phrase is on each line
of the game board, like on "Chain Reaction." Each word has a relation
to the word before and/or after it, while Before and After is two
phrases with a connecting word or words between them.
Example of Chain Reaction:
TELEPHONE
LINE
SEGMENT
TV SHOW
Example of Before and After:
THE ONE HUNDRED
THOUSAND DOLLAR
