And obviously, his talent and/or alleged charisma didn't do much for
her...

This will work about as well as the Rock Feud idea. Once again, some
shows can use enough musical information to make millions of questions
out of of. Case in point, J!, now in its fourth season. Pyramid and
Feud are two shows that won't work. And for Rock and Roll Pyramid,
doesn't Dick Clark work in two ways? One, it's Pyramid, two its Rock
and Roll. It would be perfect.
I agree...I can't see how Pyramid could be adapted for a R&R format as well
as J! was...someone had mentioned before that the WC would be videos instead
of categories. How the heck could you do that? Both the giver and receiver
would have to have a VAST knowledge of music videos from all eras and genres
and even if they did, how would you describe six of 'em in 60 seconds?
Considering that R&R Jeopardy has a pretty small prize budget, R&R Pyramid
would probably follow suit. A $5000 win would be rather lackluster for
identifying six videos from non-descript clues in my opinion.
The only other option would be categories like "parts of a guitar" and
"things elvis would say". That would be very boring after a few shows.

PS- If they do adapt it, you're right that DC would be PERFECT to
host...kind of an American Bandstand meets Pyramid combo platter! How could
he not host? :)

No, you're not.

That was a category on J! tonight! Seriously...I mean, of course they
didn't use the *word*. The category was "Gettin' Friendly With Madonna".
There was one question about the Mike Myers category she made out with,
but the others were pretty much about people she's slept with. Psychic,
man. B^)
This is not based on any information, but my assumption on reading that
it was videos instead of categories is that there would be no giver, it
would just be the player identifying videos from a screen. Now, this
would be at least the third time that MTV Networks had given us this as
a bonus round, so it's not exactly an exciting idea, but that's what
made sense to me.
> The only other option would be categories like "parts of a guitar" and

I suppose there would be categories of "songs by (artist)" or "members
of (group)". Still, you're right--however they did it, it's hard to
imagine the idea having any sort of legs.
It was a joke...... one I've pulled three times now actually.
The thing is, hardly anyone believed me the first time, but I hooked several
this time.
A joke! A joke!
Wait a minute...he had Jennifer Love Hewitt too! And even those Love
isn't as hot as Tara Reid (I'll still take both of them), she had
Carson. I have more talent than that (no really I do, Carson's stiff
as a board), and look where I am....disregard the last half of that
sentence. :-)
By the way, there is no Daly-host R-n-R Pyramid. I made it up, as I have twice
before, since everyone's going Retro this week.

Next time I'll say "for real" just once.
Didn't think so...

To each their own. In the unlikely chance someone put a gun to my head
and made/allowed me to choose one (there'd be guns to their heads, too),
I'd take Tara. One gets the feeling that there's more to her than just
what meets the eye, while Love is someone where what you see is what you
get.

OK, back to game show content.
I'm kind of glad you were kidding.
See, I'm of the opinion that if Carson Daly is the answer, I'm sure I
don't want to know the question.

Geez, if I had Jennifer Love Hewitt and Tara Reid I'd be stiff as a board too.
(Ba dum bumb cheshhh!)
But seriously ladles and gentlemints, we should be happy Carson Daly's not
hosting Rock & Roll Pyramid -- beside his bad decisions in relationships (see
Tate Donovan, the guy who rejected both Jennifer Aniston and Sandra Bullock),
he's shown no real ability to helm a game or handle anything *truly* out of the
ordinary on TRL. More importantly, the Rock & Roll Pyramid concept is a pretty
bad one -- having categories with people's names in it was always dreaded on
Pyramid, and it would probably be worse here (song titles?).
And the category?
"Nothing Like A Virgin"
"Open Your Heart...And Your Legs"
The possibilities are endless. :)
I'm sure Tara Reid shares your sentiments <g>
Diva
But Curt--surely you're not considering that Mariah Carey appearance
on "TRL" last summer where she handed out Popsicles to the audience
and started taking off her clothes an ordinary occurrence!
When were the other two times MTV had players identify videos in a bonus
round?
One has to be Remote Control, the other I don't know. I guess it could be
Name that Video, even though it was on VH-1, which is an MTV channel.
Brandon Brooks
>When were the other two times MTV had players identify videos in a bonus

Remote Control on MTV had players identify the artists in the video only(the
syndicated weekly version in 1989-90 had contestants answer movie or TV based
questions instead of videos IIRC), and I can't recall the other instance. Rock
and Roll Pyramid and Rock Feud were conceived for VH1, not MTV. Name that
Video, which had contestants name both artist and song title of the video,
aired on VH1, not MTV.
I didn't say it was on *MTV*...I said it was from *MTV Networks*, which
includes both MTV and VH1. So, yes, I was referring to Remote Control
and Name That Video.
