I know most of you all know that on April 1, 1997, Alex Trebek and Pat
Sajack switched shows for April Fools Day. But, I just suddenly
retrieved something from my ridiculous memory. I remember in 1980 for
a few weeks, Alex Trebek hosted Wheel of Fortune for Chuck Woolery
because he was sick. Does anyone remember seeing that?

Yes, I remember that NBC daytime episode of Wheel of Fortune, probably back in
late 1970s or 1980. Alex was still hosting High Rollers on NBC and subbed for
Chuck Woolery on Wheel. It was Alex's first time working for Merv Griffin (as
Alex would later be successful with Merv in Sept. '84 on J!). When Alex
introduced Susan Stafford, she came out of the gold curtain and then she went
up to Alex and she kissed him.

Alex returned to NBC daytime Wheel in 1985 or 1986 when he subbed for Pat
Sajak. Alex was in his 2nd season of Jeopardy! during that time. That time
you have Alex and Vanna together on NBC.

Imagine if Alex ever subbed on Wheel during the time he hosted Classic
Concentration also another NBC game show back to back. I don't think he would
ever fit the time due to J!

For several months he did Jeopardy!, Classic Concentration, and To Tell the
Truth at the same time. Good thing Bob Goen didn't need time off, he'd have had 4
shows and a new baby all at the same time!
