Sorry if this is a repost but does anyone know where I could find a copy of
"The Hero of Canton" that they sing about Janye Cobb?

Thanks,
Colin

It will take you less time to do a search at google than it will to
download and read the replies here.

A recording of the song or a transcript of the words?

Record it off the Special Features of the FIREFLY DVD set. Or do you
mean the version you hear in the episode?

I was looking for the version that they used on the show without talking, if

The Man They Call Jayne - from the tv series Firefly

Jayne. The man they call Jayne...

He robbed from the rich
and he gave to the poor.
Stood up to the man
and gave him what for.
Our love for him now
ain't hard to explain.
The hero of Canton
the man they call Jayne.

Our Jayne saw the mudders' backs breakin'.
He saw the mudders'lament.
And he saw the Magistrate takin'
every dollar and leavin' five cents.
So he said "You can't do that to my people."
He said "You can't crush them under your heel."
So Jayne strapped on his hat
and in 5 seconds flat
stole everythin' Boss Higgins had to steal.

He robbed from the rich
and he gave to the poor.
Stood up to the man
and gave him what for.
Our love for him now
ain't hard to explain.
The hero of Canton
the man they call Jayne.

Now here is what separates heroes
from common folk like you and I.
The man they call Jayne
he turned 'round his plane
and let that money hit sky.

He dropped it onto our houses
he dropped it into our yards.
The man they called Jayne
he stole away our pain
and headed out for the stars!

Here we go!

He robbed from the rich
and he gave to the poor.
Stood up to the man
and gave him what for.
Our love for him now
ain't hard to explain.
The hero of Canton
the man they call Jayne.

That's because Asshat is using tinyurl for the links in his FAQ, which half

No, I'm not. The usual lies, from the usual mob, now evidently hiding
behind fake data so they can't be killfiled. The links in my FAQ are all
up-to-date, and, more importantly, useful.

It's amazing how bad the "old FAQ" is, you have to see it to believe it. It
has little to do with the fact it's 3 years out-of-date. Check mine out in
a window side-by-side and you'll see almost a textbook case of rambling junk
vs. polished prose. It's here:
http://snipurl.com/k8ui

I'm surprised anyone had the temerity to ever post a link to it again. The
original author disclaimed it as a poor lark. Anyone can view the two with
two clicks. Why Hova persists in making a fool of himself in public remains
a mystery.

THATS RIGHT! Only I TELL THE TRUTH, people! That is why I proudly sign

Interesting note....

Assfucked sent me some hate email yesterday, quite interesting. Yes, I'm
the one that turned him in for spamming, I also reported his hate-mail to

So you were the little lying sack of shit that made that false complaint.
As you probably also know, I filed a formal complaint at your e-mail
provider's desk as well, which was easy to discern from your address at
love...@gawab.com

What I sent last night was hardly "hate mail," but it would indeed be
interesting if the two e-mail providers compared which of us engages in
abuse. And I'm glad it flushed you out, though you still are nothing but a
shithead usenet handle. Just keep the same one, OK? <plonk>

More on "Waffler," he/she/it changes the e-mail address AND name with EVERY
post so no one can ever killfile. Undoubtedly the same whiner appears under
other names, too, what are the odds? When you look at the posts, they
contribute nothing, ever, except whining. And the run-to-mommy approach
hasn't gotten results anywhere yet with any of the formal complaining.

Try to imagine a lower level of being than this. It ain't easy.

If you think it's low-budget and immature to "rotate" your name and e-mail
addy with each post so that no one can killfile you, please let
Waffler/Wafffler know at the real address, which is love...@gawab.com

Yeah, he doesn't know that it's good etiquette to change your name with

Wow, that's as annoyed as I've ever seen you get, I appreciate the support.

I don't really understand why the group concerning one of the finest shows
in the annals of TV attracts so many of Usenet's lowest freaks. They
contribute nothing but bile.

Nevertheless, there are positive people here always open to productive and
intriguing discussion of FIREFLY, as well as a sexy or fun diversion or two.
Welcome to you all.

At any rate, if you're new, here's some fun links. My FAQ gives you the
lowdown as fast as possible and is comprehensive if dig into the links:
http://snipurl.com/k8ui

I described and "rated" (a 1 to 4 scale, based on my personal opinion, but
with reasons) all the shows and books here:
http://snipurl.com/krwl

FIREFLY made its mark, in part, by being true to science. Here's a brief
discussion of the show's decision to reject the (so far absurd) concept of
stuff moving faster than light-speed.
http://snipurl.com/jtgy

The women of FIREFLY and SERENITY are unusually attractive, so I posted some
hi-resolution pictures at these links, all purely G-rated:
http://snipurl.com/krg1
http://snipurl.com/lh1o
http://snipurl.com/kqa2
http://snipurl.com/l70f
http://snipurl.com/kqd9
http://snipurl.com/lt6x
http://snipurl.com/krfl
http://snipurl.com/krfg

If you'd like to hear a bit from FIREFLY's creators, they've been very
accessible with interviews and the like. You may read some of their best
comments here:
http://snipurl.com/kyjy
http://snipurl.com/k884
http://snipurl.com/jtgx

Finally, these are fabulous fake nudes of the prominent women of FIREFLY.
No hardcore, but a lot of splendid nudity, none which is real. Don't click
the link if such stuff offends you in any way, and no disrespect is meant to
the actresses, who are beloved by fans on and off the screen.
http://snipurl.com/nayn

In short, FIREFLY is meant to inspire you and bring joy. Just ignore the
various haters, trolls, twits, and miserables. Or enjoy them as you might a
circus sideshow. But keep your eye on the magnificance that is FIREFLY.

Want to know about me? That's here. http://snipurl.com/kuu4 Best wishes
and keep flying. And there's far more about everything above, except the
nudes, in the FAQ. Once agin, that's here:

I decided to take a look to see what's happening in this group, after a
couple of weeks of not looking at it, and *this* is the first thing I
see! :-(

You are the one attracting them, by posting your off topic messages
about firefly in many groups and provoking people there, they clearly
follow the firefly trail over here. Good work.

I, too, think Atlas Bugged is a dick. I don't see the need to go apoplectic
about it, though - just killfile him if he's bugging you.

I would killfile him; BUT, he too is guilty of changing his email address
to stay out of killfiles. Besides, it's fun getting on his nerves and
knocking him down a few pegs from that arrogant attitude of his.

Oh, if my x-trace is garbled, that's the way my ISP has it set up, I have
no control over it, and I don't use anonymizers, I think they are for
cowards.

Can you provide cites for that, because I sure don't know any
instances where anyone has done anything remotely like that.

And also for the part about Bugged "changing his email address
to stay out of killfiles" I keep seeing blurted around here. Cuz I ain't
seen it.

I've never seen AB rant either. I wonder where he does this mythical
ranting? On the other hand, I *do* often see AB on the *receiving* end
of incoherent rants from a handful of trolls who seem to be fascinated
by him for some reason.

alt.tv.firefly is his principal newsgroup for it. BSG doesn't seem to
invoke his political side (extreme libertarian). Even aside from the
political ranting there is the continual crossposting of his own personal
Firefly 'faq' to inappropriate newsgroups which he may have stopped now.

It is not (technically) your MEMORY that is clogged, Beth. It is the
ability to tell the difference between an idiot and an ass.

I AM ASSBUG! I am in auditions to become AtlasBugged personal demon. To
mock him and his attitude and pure stupidity of his personality. Sort
of like being his good side. Of course, sometimes this is difficult,
since I have had him Killfiled. But I can live with that.

Say, I wonder. Are there other people out there who believe Ass, er
Atlas CHANGED his sig to ASSBUG!?? For those people, I have some inside
information: Kate Bekinsale is going to be Wonder Woman! And AB is a
wonderful, decent and caring Famous Lawyer who is too kindly a loving
soul to be treated this way. Really. Sorry!

(EWWWW! I had to write his "real" sig too many times! It reminds me of
the time that two lions were walking single file through the jungle.
Every so often, the second lion would swipe his tongue over the first
lion's asshole. Finally, the first lion jumped around with a roar:
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?" "I apologise" said the second lion, "But
I just ate a lawyer and am trying to get the taste out of my mouth.")

Perhaps you've had less experience with the Bugged One than some of the
rest of us...

Perhaps the Waffling One could find a more appropriate expression for
his anger, but then again, compared to Atlas' behavior in the past,
this is pretty minor.

Well yeah but he's only trolling one person and at least he's quite

Any decent newsreader will killfile on just the name portion so putting
"Atlas Bugged" bins him for all time no matter what his underlying
address is, unlike YOUR changing name AND address.
