That's because it is.
I don't check here all that often, just when I can see on my newsgroup
reader that something new has been posted - and it didn't show your post
:-(
Anyway, I was looking for an old story here and saw your post - which is
kinda cool because I was just thinking about you the other day.
Wondering how you and your family are doing and if you're still writing
fanfiction and if so, then it what fandom?
I hope that you're doing well <vbg>.

Hey Cathy!
Even the writing at ff.net is at a low. It seems to be all like minded which
doesn't interest me. I check, but I'm not motivated to write or read there
anymore.
There were good days.

Yeah, I check the listings there from time to time, but haven't found
more than one or two stories that are good. Every now and then I'll
find a summary that has promise, but then the poor spelling in the
summary itself turns me off. Or the summary will be good, but the story
has poor spelling, grammar, misspelled names, etc. Sad to say, but that
seems to be a fanfiction.net-wide problem. I don't know if it's unique
to fanfiction.net - I doubt if it is because I've been to a few other
fanfiction sites and have seen numerous owner comments about poor
spelling and such.
I have no problem with trying to stumble through a fic written by
someone who is a non-English speaker and is doing their best, but I have
no patience for stumbling through a story written by someone who should
know better.
Cathy
Yep. And unfortunately the current ER does nothing to interest me in writing
another fic.
I haven't seen a full season since Noah left. I did tape and watch his
episodes, but that was it. I know who's on there and what's going on,
but there hasn't been anything in the storylines to entice me to watch.
Probably time to break out the season DVDs and see if inspiration
strikes again <grin>. I'm also active in an "ER" role playing game, and
I often wonder if I use up my creative juices there, with nothing left
over for story writing. Although, if I had to choose, I'd stay with the
game rather than give it up just so I could turn out a story or two.
The stimulation from the other players makes for a much more fulfilling
foray into the world of make believe <grin>.
Cathy
Indeed. Myself, I've become diverted to writing (but not finishing)
stuff for CSI, rather than writing (but not finishing) stuff for ER
(even though that leaves poor Kerry in a state of limbo).
Thanks,
Cathy
Huh. I could've sworn I replied... apparently my browser crashed
before I hit Send.
Anyway. I like Geekfiction (http://community.livejournal.com/
geekfiction/). All 'ships and all three CSIs, but I follow it for the
Grissom/Sara.
Thanks. I'll check it out. I'm not yet into any of the ships, although
I do see the appeal in Grissom/Sara. Of course, the fact that I liked
Jorja on "ER" much better than Marg might be a factor there <vbeg>!
I've noticed that when I go to googlegroups and look up this newsgroup,
I see posts that never appear on my newsgroup provider (such as the
spam, thankfully! But also some non-spam posts). So, you could have
replied and it showed up there, but not here. Or on your newsgroup
provider. Another example of technology not being as grand as it should
be! LOL!
Thanks again,
Cathy
Yeah, most of it seems to be "Roomies" fics. I don't mind Luby (write
a bit of it myself ;-)), but there isn't even much good Luby stuff.
(Most of it is unoriginal and boring ... or just horribly written.
I still post there (very, very slowly these days ... I FINISHED "Into
the Light" in less time than it takes me to churn out one chapter of
my current fic. Of course my 45 hour work-day is probably a minor
factor there) and I TRY to read because I feel that if I want people
to read my stuff, I should return the favor ... but it's so hard to
find anything decent. I read something awful, write a scathing
review, then feel guilty and spend the next hour hunting for something
I can review positively, and rarely have much luck.
Oh well.
