When I started DOOL in the past year or so, it was after Nicole's baby kidnapping period and vixen days, so I liked her
a lot with E.J.. Now, I can't stand to look at her, and usually mute her repetitions of "how wonderful Daniel has been
to her" and "how great their relationship is", and her plans, etc., etc.,etc..

I was just wondering how long term fans view Nicole these days? Is this her true nature? Whatever Nicole wants is
what matters, no matter what it does to Danilel's career... or even to E.J.?

Nicole has always been a villain on the show, and I don't think that has
really changed. Unlike Sami, who has sort of gone back and forth between
bad girl and good girl, and Melanie, who made the full transition from bad
girl to good, Nicole has always pretty much been the same character. I
don't really see that changing.

Thanks, Rick! Guess I caught her in a slow period for the character when I started watching. ;) Don't think I'll
be liking her again then. :(

Don't have much sympathy for Daniel though, he brought this on himself. He's such a sad sack these days.

Yeah, she's 'softened' a little bit, but she's still all about what she
wants is what she's gonna get.

Thanks... Suzee...

I was amazed how quickly her affection [lust?] for E.J., moved on to Rafe, then even quicker to Daniel, who now seems to
be an obsession. I'm disappointed to say the least. :)

I remember when I was upset to see Sami and Rafe break up, that other long time fans mentioned how good Sami and E.J.
were together, or at least they liked them together, and I now see what they mean. :) So naturally, Rafe is going to
decide Sami is not so awful now. Why doesn't he just marry the mother of that baby he is claiming? ;)

What is Melanie's bad girl history?

Many years ago, I watched for a brief period when Sami and Lucas were a terrible twosome [on/off again couple], and I
can't remember much else. However, I know a little about Sami. :)

I don't think she felt more for Rafe than affection and gratitude for
helping her out. It did look like the writers might throw them together,
but decided on the current direction.

Then Nicole couldn't come between Dan and Jennifer...!

Here's a synopsis of her character -

She's changed a lot since the early days.

Thanks, Suzee! Now I have Nick's background/history too. :) Needed to know how bad an egg he was, and it seems he
wasn't as bad as I thought.

I thought she gave up on pursuing Rafe, because he was obviously hung up on Carrie. :)

No he wasn't at all. It's just the painkillers he was on from getting
shot trying to save Melanie addled his thinking a lot.

There's that too. But she didn't seem to be scheming that much to get
him anyway. He was fine for her until Dan came along, then she set her
sights on him.

Soaps thrive on love triangles, sometimes a little too much.

Daniel is perhaps best known for having been involved (at different times)
with both Kate and her granddaughter, Chelsea. And when Chelsea's mom
Billie returned to the show several months ago, it looked for a while as
though he might get involved with her as well. For one character to be
involved with three generations of women like that is pretty advanced, even
for Days.

I remember when Nichole came to Salem.
Her back story is tragic. Her father made her do porn when she was a young teen.
I generally like her character. While she uses the men in her life I see tham as using her too. Her father, her late husband and Victor, all users of women.
It seem to me someone with Nicole's background would always be looking for real love only to be used again and again. Daniel fits into the user catagory to me. He wants to save her. (btw, he's a remarkable surgeon. Jenn's scars from heart re-transplant surgery are totally gone. He was able to remove her appendix even thought he can't safely operate any more.)
Brady seemed to be the only man who wanted to love her for herself.
(hello all, I've been away for quite a while, grrly girl)

I agree with you about Nicole. She is actually one of the most complex and
realistic characters on the show. I don't find her all that likeable (her
lying and scheming are a real turn-off), but she is always well-written and
very well-acted. I also agree that the one true love in her life is Brady,
who has unfortunately been very badly written the last few years.

Nicole is my favorite character on Days because she's so entertaining to
watch. She can do comedy well and cry with the best of them. I was
hoping they'd put her back with Brady after Daniel since he was alone
too at that time. Oh well, he's headed for a fall again. I like her
scenes with EJ whether they're together or not, last week's scenes on
New Year's Eve were fun.

Meanwhile, Eileen Davidson must be having a blast playing Kristen after
her boring role on Y&R.
