This is the original outline Art Wallace projected for Dark Shadows...Shadows
on the Wall was his original title (or latest title at the time). This book
has his entire first year projection as well as storyline ideas for the future.

The only storyline that was ever used completely from this outline was the one
where David tried to kill his father by removing the bleeder valve.

This outline has the following story ideas:

--Roger is pushed to his death by David over Widows Hill, as
Roger is trying to kill Vicky by pushing her over the cliff.
--Bill Malloy is not murdered and lives on in Rogers place as a
good friend to Liz.
--There is no Matthew Morgan
--Jason McGuire is called Walt Cummings. Bill Malloy sides
with Liz against Walt. Eventually, Walt leaves town after
Paul is revealed to be alive. There is no Willie Loomis.
--Constable Carter is featured during the first year, not
Sheriff Patterson
--Laura Robin, Rogers wife comes to take David and is found
dead, Vicky is tried for her death and soon a romance develops
between her and Burke.
--Paul Stoddard returns to escape the forces that pursue him.

Interesting what this show would have been like had they stayed on this course.

Constable Carter WAS the original police officer on DS as it
was made. Then one day he was replaced by Sheriff Patterson
with no explanation whatsoever.

I think it's a neat little synchronicity that, during the same time as her
run on Dark Shadows, Grayson Hall played in a really spooky episode of Rod
Serling's Night Gallery entitled, "Certain Shadows on the Wall". Anyone
remember it? It really creeped me out as a teenager.

Sounds like a good episode Guy. Hopefully someday ill get a chance to see it.
I'm also looking for Joan Bennett's movie Suspiria,as I hear that is quite
"creepy" as well, but none of my local video stores seem to have it. :(

Bob! I can't believe you've never seen these! Especially, 'Certain Shadows
on the Wall'. It is a classic! I'm collecting the Night Gallery episodes on
video from Columbia House because Sci Fi is showing the horribly edited ones
that sometimes cut as much as a full half hour out of the syndication
package episodes that are available! The Columbia House videos are
WONDERFUL! Night Gallery was one of my favorite shows and a bit of a
substitute when I lost DS in 1971! 'Certain Shadows on the Wall' was about
three sisters and a brother who live in an old Victorian mansion. The oldest
sister is very ill and the evil brother helps her on her way by poisoning
her in her bed. After her body is removed to the funeral home the siblings
notice that their dead sister's shadow is still on the wall! Try as they
may, they cannot get the shadow to go away! It IS spooky!

Below is a URL for a wonderful site dedicated to Night Gallery. Although
Grayson's picture is not here there is a creepy one of Agnes Moorehead who
played the elder sister. And, having just visited there I noticed yet
another coincidence! On the episode which contained the story 'Certain
Shadows on the Wall' there was another short story entitled 'The House'.
'The House' was an early teleplay by Art Wallace which was a partial basis
for DS. It was about a woman who lived in a huge mansion by the sea and was
a recluse, having not left the mansion for 18 years! Strange that these two
titles were found in the same episode of Night Gallery!

Yet another coincidence Bob.... Yesterday I received in the mail a CD I
purchased on line. It is the soundtrack to 'Susperia'! I was listening to it
at work last night! It is a bit creepy too. It is performed by an Italian
rock group named 'Goblin' who also did the soundtrack for 'Dawn of the
Dead'.

A year or so before Joan Bennett passed away (gosh, it seems like yesterday
but it's been almost 9 years now!) I was chatting with her husband, Mr.
David Wilde, as she signed autographs. He noticed someone having her
autograph something from Susperia and he began to laugh. He called the movie
"garbage" and said it was about the worst thing he had ever seen. He went on
and on about how awful it was (although he had nice things to say about some
of the actors and the director). When I asked him why Miss Bennett did the
movie he said, "Well, we got a free trip to Italy out of it." :)

Thanks Doug, that was nice of you to post the Suspiria info. I don't get that
channel, but on a brighter note, a friend e-mailed me and offered to make me a
copy of the movie. :>)

Bob,

If you can't locate Suspiria, it is available from reel.com for $14.95.

Re: Suspiria

I think SciFi periodically runs it.

Yes he is, Joey. So are Miss Bennett's four daughters.
Here is another bit of trivia for anyone who hasn't heard it.
Morton Downey, Jr., the loud mouthed talk show host of the mid 1980s, is
Joan Bennett's nephew. He is the son of her sister Barbara.
