When I found some old napkin sketches in one of my drawers, I realized I
do this frequently. Since they were yellowing, I scanned them. Now, I
guess I have a collection of napkin art!

Yeah, sometimes. But as soon as I got home, I'd always write the stuff down in
an ASCII file if it was worth keeping. I never saved the napkins.

Sounds like an unusual website you could have there!

Yes, I've written quite a few poems on napkins, I must confess. I do
try to avoid this practice at fancier establishments, however - for some
reason, the management frowns on my using Sharpie pens on their nice
linen napkins... : )

You is a mind reader !
I just picked up a skethbook at Borders yesterday 'cause I was sick of
looking for the scraps !!
Using it to draw sketches of New England hardware and iron in my travels.

That's just silly. Especially when you can cut the pictures out of the
napkins and glue them to something else and make a craft project. ;-)

Ooooooh, drawings! Sorry, I was thinking notes and ideas. It was after
midnight for me too, when I wrote that. You did say "sketches", but I must
have yawned over that word.

Thanks for the memory. Luckily, we used the white glue, otherwise I'd have
more dead cells than I already have :)

I don't but my kids often draw on napkins when we go out to eat..and yes, I
have saved some of their artwork! I thought I was the only one who did
that..if you scanned the napkins and put them on a webpage I hope you post it
or send me the link..I would like to see the sketches...:-)
No its much classier than THAT. Its sticking them on the clean soup cans
and making pen holders.
Every time I think of you and those scissors the image of Frasier (sp?) on
Cheers comes to mind. He wants to do something dangerous that he's never
done before: "I'm running with scissors." I always picture you doing this
after WindRivers hair.

Great ! Your "scribblings" are better than my, ahem..."artwork" any day !
Question ? What would you suggest I use for a "pencil" to do drawings of iron
hardware (door handles, hinges and such).
I know they have special art pencils, but is there any in particular you use ?
Kep 'em comin', I enjoy looking at them Wind River :)

LOL ! I remember that. "Look, I'm a bad boy ! I'm running with scissors !!"
There are lovely drawings. You don't happen to do line drawings of old
houses do you?
A soft artist pencil would probably work best, something like a 2B. A
fine-grained piece of sandpaper works well to keep them sharp. I
haven't used pencils in a long time, since they don't tend to
reproduce as well on the printed page. I guess pen/ink is my preferred
choice.
Joe, if you want more detailed info, you can email me. It would take
forever discussing all the types of pencil and erasers, here.

I scanned a bunch of stuff earlier this evening, including some more

Thank you, Diva. You are talented, also. I haven't forgotten your website!

I usually just write the waiter's "tip" on the napkin.

You must have put that link up right after I posted earlier! Wonderful artwork,
you are very talented.

Don't get rid of the napkins! You can't tell from the scans that they are
on napkins. Having them on napkins makes them different and special. Oh I
don't know how to explain it. Just don't you throw away those napkins.

BTW, I was talking with a friend of mine, and her mother used to write
letters to her on napkins.
I like the napkin look...they are like quilt squares. :-)
Absolutely wonderful! Do you ever do characters from DS?

You know, its odd. I never did DS characters. In high school, I drew a few
pictures of Spock/Enterprise and the Beatles. Usually, I draw other stuff. Don't
know if you saw my non-napkin site. The link was buried in one of the previous
responses.

Maybe, I'll try a DS theme. Finding time is the main problem. Sidney, who or what
would you like to see? (I already know that answer for many of the other
newsgroupers, particularly the Quentin and Angelique fans... they are quite
vocal!!!)
-Wind River
You need to sit down and watch DS and draw at the same time. Draw Morgan
and then send it to me. It would be interesting to have the story lines
represented by their most important characters. Draw Morgan and send it to
me. I like Quentin and Angelique too, but Morgan........

Mae, it's gonna be awhile before Morgan appears. How about Barnabas on a napkin?
http://www.angelfire.com/blues/windriver/napbarnabas.html
I sketched this at Pokemon League, today. Soon, there were about 5 kids drawing
on paper towels and napkins. Hilarious! (Barn doesn't work well on a napkin, so
I'll do a better DS drawing at some point.)
