Also didn't Barnabas say Sarah died long before he met Josette? That's not
true now is it. Writers mixing things up again. Or they just simply had not
written the 1795 storyline yet and didnt get things straight. Or didnt
remember that Barnabas said that before the 1795 storyline. But hey that is
one of the things that makes the show interesting for me and keep me coming
back for more.
Learn something new about the story all the time. If I knew it all like some
people in this group I probably wouldnt tape the show everyday.

It might have been mentioned by another character perhaps? I don't really
remember if it was said in passing from any of the people at Collinwood in
regards to Sarah or not. Anyone? Graeme do you remember?

Yes, when they were burying Jason, Willie asked if Barnabas ever had any really
close friends. He said yes. Willie asked if he meant Josette, and Barn said
that this was a long time before Josette. But I'm going by memory here. I
haven't been watching the new episodes for the last 3 weeks because I've had to
go back and watch 1841 for a project. Bramwell! Brrrrrrrr-amwell!!

I watched Friday's episodes tonight, and you are correct, Graeme. Your memory

Good question, except for one small detail. At this point, only 4
people know Mags isn't dead, but still alive and in a position to make
a connection between that drawing and her captor. Those 4 folks are
Dr Woodard, Julia, Sam Evans and Joe Haskell. It's not likely any of
them are familar with the Collins history book.
Yes, he just mentioned an un-named "friend".
Later in the Collins Mausoleum, Willie asked him if he had been referring
to Sarah, but Barnabas only replied, "Maybe".
except it's a PHOTO in that book :)

The story goes that William Daguerre, carrying all his equipment, accidentally
stepped into a time warp that took him back to 1795 Collinwood, and offered to
make the most life-like portraits ever before seen. Joshua thought it a waste of
money (natch--- he didn't appear to have left even a painted portrait), but Naomi,
a little sozzled at the time, thought it would be fun. So Daguerre made pictures
of both herself and little Sarah (Barnabas was in Martinique, screwing up his
future life, at the time).
Daguerre was going to make one of Jeremiah, also. However, Aunt Abigail,
convinced that absolutely ANYTHING she didn't understand was the work of the
Devil, accused poor Bill D. of stealing his subject's SOULS to make such life-like
portraits. He and Jeremiah tried to explain about negative images, camera
obscuras, and silver oxide treatments, but she thought SCIENCE was witchcraft,
too. So, before she contacted Trask, Daguerre hied out of town and found his way
back through the rift in the time line, leaving the pictures in Naomi's
safekeeping (her liquor locker, which neither Abigail nor Joshua ever invaded.)
Both daguerreotypes were, much later, reproduced in the Collins family history
(David had shown Willie the one of Naomi), but the originals were lost in the
clutter of the West wing or the East Wing or the North Wing or the cellar or the
attic, or the outhouses, etc.
