Willie could feel the weight of the impending dusk as it approached,
feeling as if he were the last living man on earth, soon the evil
force of the undead Vampire would search for him. He
need not search for long, sitting in the Old House drawing room
Willie hoped his preparations were enough, and that Barnabas' plan would
prevail. Willie went over in his mind as he tries to remember
where each of the weapons he will need and use strategically placed
though out the Old House were.
Listening to the church bell in town Willie takes a deep breath then
gulps down the half filled glass of Brandy he filled with a shaky
hand as he waits, focusing on the ticking of the mantel clock he
stares into the flames that burn in the fire place.
The moment Willie knew would come arrived, at the setting of the
sun, though the same windows that Barnabas smashed into came the
Vampire filled with such a rage that Willie wished with all his soul
that his death be swift and painless. After the dust clears Willie
remains sitting in the high back chair. "Most visitors knock before
they enter into a person's house." Trying his best not to show fear
Willie attempts to make small talk in hope of throwing the intruder off
his balance. Appearing to work the Vampire stands before him, his
fangs appearing to him in a sinister grin.
All of Willie's impulses were strained, trying to keep his composure
and wait till the last second before the Vampire tries to reach for
him... the hidden cross just inside his jacket pocket would bring an
alarming affect on the unsuspecting invader, who just happens to have
the power of the undead and the strength of ten men or more. The
Vampire became confused, then suddenly on his guard. "We meet again
Willie, I should have killed you when I had the chance... an oversight
on my part I assure you." Being talked to like a servant added anger
to Willie's emotions. With an outburst of superiority Willie orders
the Vampire. "That's Mr. Loomis ta you, only my friends call
me Willie." The Vampire's eyes lower to the ground, then back to
him. "I see, it so happens I am in search of a new companion, I would be
glad to offer the position to you young man, leave Barnabas, he's
treated you so badly as you recall... come with me and perhaps you
will not die an excruciatingly painful death." For the first time
Willie listened to the sound of his voice, falling upon his ear, so
soothing, the deep tones in his words gave Willie to feel almost
trusting.
Snapping himself back wide awake Willie quickly pulls out the silver
cross from inside the pocket of his tan jacket, then thrusts it forward,
just in time to catch the Vampire, now much to close to him, causing
the Vampire's violent retreat, Willie knew how lucky he was, he
decided not to listen to closely to this most important and dangerous
enemy. Rapidly the Vampires cloak is raised over his head to shield
himself. " You cut me to the quick... I should have known you would
know our weaknesses." Standing up and moving away Willie holds the
only source of protection in front of him. "I just want to ask ya one
question... that's all." The Vampire waits while still holding his
dark cloak between them. "Ok, why do ya want to kill Barnabas, he's
just like you... h-he's even your kin, I heard ya talkin ta Buzz saying
he was."
The Vampire lowers the garment, he stands looking away from
Willie, they both turn to watch the staircase hearing the sound of
boots descending, stepping to the bottom is Barnabas Collins, his dark
eyes dilated to their fullest, keeping his eyes on the Vampire he
speaks. "Yes Willie, now I know who our uninvited guest is, we are
indeed of the same blood, this is my great Uncle Benjamin Collins."
The Vampire hisses at the mentioning of his name.
Willie was too afraid to move, his arm was beginning to tire from
holding the silver cross out towards the Vampire. "So how did he get
cursed Barnabas." Willie was doing his best not to show too much fear,
he could feel the brandy coursing though his veins, giving him what
little courage he did have. Barnabas moves forward to meet the
Vampires gaze, he hoped that if they could meet eye to eye Barnabas
could try to subdue him with his powers and bring him under his control,
although as he passed Willie he accidently turned his head towards him,
the sight of the cross intended to protect young Loomis had the same
affect upon Barnabas, quickly turning his head, Willie lowers the cross.
"B-Barnabas!" His defenses down the Vampire strikes, rushing towards
Willie he thrusts the young man sharply against one of the columns that
stand in the drawing room of the Old House, dropping the cross,
Willie falls to the ground clutching his chest. "Barnabas turns to ward
off his attack.
The scent of the Vampires breath fell on Willie's cheek,
Barnabas' strong hand is able to draw him away, taking hold of Willie
jacket he is also pulled across the floor until he is released, Willie
pulls himself up then runs outside leaving the two Vampires to
battle. Running across the dense woods that grow between the Old
House and Collinwood Willie does his best to keep his footing and not
stumble.
Meanwhile in the Old House Barnabas fends off the Vampire... "You
are a Collins! why do you fight me." Twirling around, his cloak
spinning in unison Benjamin Collins speaks. "I am no longer a Collins!
my father Isaac Collins disowned me with the curse Miranda DuVal
cast upon me, he forced me into that which he planned would be my
final resting place for all eturnity, the long years were an everlasting
hell for me, dead and not dead, the memory of my lonely miserable
life, in my thoughts for company forever inside that horrid
cramped coffin, how wrong he was." Barnabas knew Benjamin was
speaking of Angelique, he felt the irony in his backbone.
"How could this Miranda curse you... there are no such things as
witches." Barnabas knew by getting him to talk he could get
him off his guard perhaps enough so that he would have
the upper hand and send him back to his grave.
Sensing his thoughts Benjamin looks towards Collinwood, gazing
around him he sees the total destruction of the Old House drawing room,
reaching for a candle he growls. "You will not destroy me!"
Smashing it to the floor at Barnabas' feet the small flame spreads
quickly, immediately flames rise burning between them.
The fire building Benjamin races towards Collinwood, Barnabas
puts out the flames before they can grow any larger, he then hurries
after Benjamin, mere moments behind.
Willie was able only to have the drawing room lights switched on and
was about to run upstairs when he felt Barnabas' heart beat... changing
his mind Willie runs down to the basement.
The large doors seem to open by themselves, the large Vampire enters
slowly. "Now this is a Collins house, I can feel them, as strong as I
did when." He stops speaking when his gaze falls upon the portrait
that hangs on the wall in the foyer by the door beneath the second
floor landing. Walking towards it he smiles for the first time, a
charming smile not seen nor felt since his incarceration so many
years before.
Reaching his hand out, Benjamin almost touches the frame he does
not turn his head, standing in the foyer is Barnabas. "The man you used
to be is never forgotten." Pulling his hand down he frowns, still
starring at his likeness he speaks softly to Barnabas. "I wish I
could have remained that person sitting there... it was not to be, it
was predetermined that I become this!" Turning away Benjamin hurries
though the door way towards the basement.
Barnabas knew his thoughts. "You will not kill him!" He shouts
as he follows his deranged Great Uncle. Willie, searching for a safe
place to hide hears footsteps hurrying towards him, cringing close
by and grasping a discarded banister leaning against a brick wall
Willie watches with wide eyes and waits.
Storming into the basement Benjamin stands, with his Vampire eyes
he hunts the darkness for his prey, seeing him he hisses with anger,
approaching him with a deliberate slow stride, knowing that with
each step Willie's fear grows, Benjamin grins. Barnabas seizes
Benjamin from behind, spinning him around towards him. Grasping the
other at the shoulders the two Vampires again fight.
Willie watches the two powerful men struggle in a bitter fight
to what seemed like to the death, when suddenly the ghost of little
Sarah Collins walks out from a dark corner, observing with wonder the
outcome. Willie sees the child and becomes frightened.
Without notice Willie does not see them approaching his
position for centering his attention on Sarah, when all at once,
Barnabas is sent crashing into the younger man when sight of the child
caught Benjamin's peripheral vision, he stops to look at her.
Clutching the banister with one hand Willie tries to break Barnabas'
fall, Barnabas' last moment of consciousness is seeing Benjamin
approach Sarah, then suddenly all goes black.
Waking up Barnabas and Willie notice they are in darkness, Willie
takes out his lighter, but it will not work... searching around Willie
finds a candle on a side bench, lighting it Willie gasps when he sees
Barnabas on the ground. "Barnabas?!" Looking at him Barnabas stands,
feeling strange he shudders. "What's happened to me Willie, my clothes,
they feel much to large, tell me what's happened." Willie looks
down on Barnabas and is shocked to see he has been reverted back to
his childhood. "Barnabas, your a little kid! what's goin on!"
Touching his chest and arms Barnabas utters what he
feels has happened. "Willie somehow we've come back to the past,
back to the time I was a small boy!"
