The End of ABC Saturday Morning Cartoons

It's was the end of an era this past weekend. For the last time, this
Saturday morning, with the airing of The Emperor's New School and The
Replacements, Saturday morning cartoons on ABC came to an end, as
Litton will start airing ABC Weekend Adventure on September 3.
Although those two shows have been in rerun mode for years now, there
was consistently some kind of animated show presence on the block.
Either from before the days of Disney's ownership to One Saturday
Morning to ABC Kids.
Saturday mornings on ABC have been the home of many well-known
animated shows. It's even famous for airing animation that wasn't part
of a show at all - School House Rock, with songs like "Conjunction
Junction." Shows like Darkwing Duck and Goof Troop aired on ABC
Saturday mornings in the early 1990s, but of course, one of the
block's most famous shows from that time period is the SatAM version
of Sonic the Hedgehog. ABC Saturday mornings for a very long aired The
Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show, and also was the first home for Spider-Man
in the 1960s.
What are some of your favorite memories from ABC Saturday mornings and

IIRC, ABC was the one that aired "Pirates of Dark Water" back in the
90s. More importantly, ABC also ran "Thundarr The Barbarian" back in
the early 80s.
ABC also, IIRC, used to run some weird 'one-off' cartoons (ABC Weekend
Special, is what it was called apparently) - for instance, I think
they had a mini-series cartoon version of "The Secret World of Og"
back in the 80s or 90s.
ABC has run some good cartoons over the years... [sigh]

Unfortunately, getting rid of cartoons on regular TV stations has become
"normal".
When I was a kid we used to have great "magazine-style" / hosted shows on
weekend mornings and after school that had good kids' shows (animated or
live action), as well as standalone shows.
These days, although such "magazine-style" / hosted shows still exist,
they are now more about silliness such as dropping "gunge" on guests, fart
jokes, etc. instead. It's far cheaper for them to have this tacky nonsense
rather than actually buying / making decent shows ... even with an
increase in the number of hosts (we used to get one host during
after-school timeslots, these days there are three or four of them!). :-(

I was really annoyed Pirates of Dark Water didn't get to complete their
story.
