And here's my suggestion: Go to Syfy.
As I mentioned over here in alt.slack a while back, now that they've
changed their name, I'm feeling more kindly toward them. And there's
such potential there! They've got middling-budget science fiction and
fantasy production pretty much down pat, but their writing is groansome.
alt.slack posters shied away from the idea.
So I shut up for a bit, and now I'm watching "Sanctuary," which I really
WANT to like, what with my fondness for Amanda Tapping and my like of
the general look of it. And jeez, I wish it were in a foreign language,
the dialog is so lame.
So to you, Mr. Whedon, I ask why don't YOU colonize the Syfy network,
bringing along writers and other talent you find promising?
Now I realize you like your set designs, like Angel's W&H lobby, and
Firefly's cargo bay, so I imagine Syfy's green screens might not tempt
you. But why not get some of your series' other writers some chances,
perhaps with straight space opera or something visually broad like that?

Dont' bother. They're just as bad.
I'm one of those suckers who pestered my cable system all those
years ago to pick up the Sci fi channel. They promised it was
going to be the "Tv land" for sci fi. Now that they've gotten rid of
all
the good old sci fi shows I deepely regret pushing
my cable systems to pick up the network.
Or HBO. Dollhouse was a 12x1h per season show, just like the HBO format.
This said HBO also cancelled Carnivle after two brilliant (IMO)
seasons, so be aware too.

Why does a name-change for you help?
I find namechanges in general only confusing, and in practice often to make
things worse.

I'm ancient enough that I prefer the term "science fiction" and find the
industry's shortening of it something I don't say, if I can help it.
