This is a strange post. What is the problem with people expressing
what they like better than something else, what they prefer and
disagreeing about it? Sheesh! I thought good discussion was all about
differing opinions... I thought that's was netchatter was all about...
And not all opinions stink...some smell better than others...

Of course they don't! That just shows why B5 is better. :-)

No, because I've grown weary of discussing a deteriorating Trek
universe. And I HAVE seen a lot of B5-bashing by Trek fans, in
letterzines, at cons and a couple of private Trek lists I've been on in
the past.

NO!!!!!
I read nearly all the ST groups and I dont see this kind of
childishness in any of them.

That's because B5 viewers generally also watch Trek for nostalgia's
sake, but pure Trek viewers don't enjoy or watch B5, and so have
no idea what they would bash about.

Jim;
I happen to be one of the seemingly few people around who actually
enjoy both ST (all variations) AND Bab5.
A question? why are you dissing me for answering a question that
someone asked?
Oh, and I could give a fig about what F. Scott thinks of my use of
apostrophes to make a point emphatic.

Well, let's go back and read what you wrote, shall we?

Here you've decided that all of this Trek discussion is "childish",
but when somebody has the -audacity- to disagree, you decide you
are being "diss'd" and start whining like a child yourself.
I can't imagine why I "diss'd" you Pat. It's a total mystery.

Which makes one wonder who needs to lighten up here.
Excuse me Martin but which Star Trek groups do you read? They always
seem to be bashing one of the other of the ST series in virtually
every group I read. As for comparisons to Bab5, I have not seen any
but just maybe thats because they are more interested in discussing
something they like than in bashing something they may not. BTW: I see
many of the same people posting in both the ST groups and in this one.
And, one question, to all who have done so, why am I getting flamed
simply for answering a question that someone asked? If no one else
wanted to be civil and answer the persons question thats their
business. I chose to do otherwise and have been turned into a crispy
critter for my troubles.

Well, hypothetically, it could be because you decreed us all
to be childish.
Naw...that can't be it.
(Duh.)
It's the Wiccan Creed. Kind of a "Golden Rule" thing.
Legate

I maintain that bashing something just to prove yours is better IS
indeed childish and it makes me embarrassed to read that kind of crap
on this group. If *that other* SF TV series was never mentioned on
this group like this one is never mentioned in the other groups I
would be more than happy.

And I still maintain you're a nitwit. What you call "bashing"
the rest of us call "critique". It's fun, it's harmless, and
it raises some interesting issues.

The "Trek" threads in this newsgroup are well marked. If you
don't want to read them, then don't.
Or, on the other hand, you could whine like a petulant child.
(But wouldn't it be simpler to just not -read- them?)
>Legate
Thanks for answering the question Legate. I guess my newsreader
mustve eaten the post it appeared in, at least I never saw it.
To RmadlloLvr: not only is it the Wiccan creed it is the main
philosophy of my life.
Jim;
As I have said to you before; (several times as a matter of fact)
I am of the opinion that those who find it necassary to point out how
bad ST is simply to PROVE that Bab5 is better are being childish. I
dont mind seeing the intelligent, thoughtful comparisons but that is
not what I am reading in most cases.
As for whining: I ASKED why I was being shot down simply for answering
a question. I personally dont give a fig what YOU think of me.
Now, would you mind allowing me to go on reading in this group without
having to constantly answer this kind of crapola from you everytime I
open it up?

Actually it is the Wiccan Rede and the very basic tenet and only commonly
accepted dogma of the Wiccan/Pagan religious system.
