He's billed as "The Destroyer".

A being so scary even the water-loving squid-things were afraid of him.

Instead we get a human teenager who would probably get eaten alive by
those water-squids. They were afraid of this... boy??? I don't buy
it. And as season 4 continues onward, Conner becomes weaker and
weaker.

"The Destroyer comes"?

Hardly.

Yeah, Connor was the cousin Oliver of Angel.

It's the only way he can drown out the "Meow Mix" song playing in his

LOL. I dunno, I find it kind of amusing in a blast-from-the-past sort of
way.

Speaking of hero hellspawn that grow up fast in series-time, I preferred Eve
(aka Livia) to Conner.

Agreed. I was never impressed with the character, nor the Darla storyline.
I guess he, just like Dawn on Buffy, was supposed to represent teenage
angst. Quite frankly, Claire on 6 Feet Under did it a lot better than these
two.

In the end, Conner was nothing more than a plot device: disbelieve Angel
when he told the truth, gleefully believe anything Evil Cordelia told him no
matter how lame and ridiculous and throw tantrums to create tension.

I feel with your pain. A dramatic entrance by the boy into Hyperion followed
by a dramatic escape, attaching himself on to a fast moving bus and flipping
on to the top--reminiscent of the movements of Janeway's species 842 (or is
it 841). But then it's all "downhill" from there. It is as if the boy's
martial arts skills went down two or three notches as he time passed. I'd
chalk it up to the smog in LA.

Nope. For all practical purposes, Cordelia ceased to exist in season
4, taken over by "the beast", and Angel/cordelia never got together as
lovers. Sucked. I think Season 4 qualifies as the worst season.

As for "teen angst" I've never seen Six Feet Under or the young girl on
that series. Perhaps I'll go rent the dvd.

The cover is fine, but when I opened it up (watched Conner's actions),
I did not see a being dangerous enough to frighten the water-loving
squid-things.

Those water-squids were afraid of Conner? Ha. Yeah right. They would
have devoured him.

Maybe they werre afraid to devour him because they knew he would have a
bitter taste. Some people are bitter, you know?

And there are no other newsgroups discussing old things. I'm sure that
there are no Star Trek groups, Lord of the Rings Groups, or even Bible
Study groups, cause after all there hasn't been a new book written in

Yeah. I was relieved when Buffy went. It ran two years longer than it
ever should have (Ian C. Ball shouts "FOUR!").

While Angel had that horrible slump with
fat-peroxide-hair-chewed-off-by-weasels-evil-Cordy and son, it rallied
way better than I expected it to with the move to Wolf, Ram, and Hart.
The only thing consistently bad in that last season was conduit chick.

Ah, but this is a random glurge, lacking in context or relevance. It
rehashes a topic which was debated to death while it was current, and
add no new perspective, commentary, or insight. It's akin to me going
to a Star Trek group and complaining that the new 'McCoy' character
isn't as good as the one who was in "Where No Man Has Gone Before".

Generally, in the Tolkein, etc, groups, comments on old or existing
material are framed so as to make them relevant or ask a question
which can be answered. Contrariwise, simply posting a seemingly random
observation on one aspect of a cancelled TV series comes across as the
act of a troll or a lunatic.

Oj wait. Troy. Ne'er mind.

Assuming that by "the one about the cop" you mean FOREVER KNIGHT,
that's disqualified as it was on 10 years before ANGEL. Fred
specifically said "better than any vampire show *since*" (emphasis
added).

The only other vampire shows I can think of off-hand (at least,
with the main character being a vampire, so BUFFY doesn't count)
are the syndicated DRACULA: THE SERIES and FOX's KINDRED: THE
EMBRACED. And both of those were way before ANGEL as well.

Did I say it was? I just asked why you posted it. Thus far, no decent
answer.

>Oh that's right.
>No such rule exists.
>You're just blowing smoke.

Don't recall saying a rule exists.

I just asked why you bothered making the post. What did you hope to
accomplish? Was it to inform others? Not really, as there was nothing
new added. Was it to learn something new? No, because you didn't ask
any questions. Was it to gather opinions? You've got them, but you
don't want them if they disagree with your own. So, then, why?

The only answer I can come up with is 'trolling or psycho'. Either
way, there's not much point in my responding further. If you're a
troll, I'm just feeding you, which is stupid. If you're a psycho, I'm
just feeding your psychosis, which would be fun if I were a sadist,
but I'm not.

>Actually you remind me of my dad... he's a control freak who tries to
>boss other people around.

If you consider expressing a negative opinion to be 'bossing you
around', then, you've got waaaay bigger issues than anything which can
be addressed on a newsgroup. +1 point in the 'psycho' category, then.

The 'daddy' thing is sort of a dead giveaway, ennit?

Don't worry. Adolescent angst is one of the few diseases which is
usually cured by, rather than exacerbated by, the passage of years.

Part of Buffy and Angel's plotlines were that the "ultimate" evil was
ALWAYS coming, nearly every week. How do you top, the top? Angel
probably got desperate, especially when they cut the budget in half
near the last year.

Wasn't he the destroyer?

He helped bring Jasmine into the world, and only his interference stopped
her.

(not a huge conner fan, just no one had mentioned that)

<rhetorical and spoof>
According to even Jasmine herself, she was the love child of Cordy and
Connor, but I don't want to be insensitive here, but I demand to know who
the father was. :p

Connor caught her by surprise.

He was getting soft with his comfy cushy HUMAN surroundings.

Everyone just thinks he was. I think he wasn't. Why would a mystical
pregnancy that ballooned up a belly in a day or two need sperm in the first
place? It's just too inconvenient and too pesky. Think about it. After the
sperm met the egg, presumably a human soul was already in place, and then
"Jasmine" or whoever the heck it was would need to suppress or drive the
human soul away in order to take over. It would be much easier *if* it could
simply impregnate Cordy without the need of a sperm via mystical means, of
course, and no human soul to deal with afterwards.

Yes, and that's the gist of my original question. Who was the "father" if
the pregnancy did not require sperm?

In article <swS_g.174708$5R2.84108@pd7urf3no>,

conner was the mystical sperm donor
it was shown that he wasnt exactly human
and cordeia was no longer wholly human
so normal human rules dont apply
(and actresses dont always get pregnant on the seasons schedule)

cordelia was by that time controlled by jasmine
whether conner was controlled by anything but his own hormones is not revealed

cordelias blood reveals jasmines truth because cordelia is her mother
and that gives cordelia power over her

conner punches through jasmines head because he is her father
and that gives him power over her

Unlike other people, I pose questions, and when I propose some
possibilities, I clearly label them as conjectures. But what I don't do is
to equate mere utterance with truth--not in the real world, and, especially,
not in a fiction world. Writer's intent is silly especially when some ME
writers like to fool people.

Where are the on screen evidence for Connor being the biological father of
Jasmine except for Jasmine's words? And hadn't Jasmine been lying about lots
of things all along?

Cordelia appeared physically pregnant and the only person she'd had sex
with was COnnor.

Cordy's blood disabled the illusion Jasmine created because she shared
that blood with her. Connor could put his fist through Jasmine's head
because the same blood tie made Jasmine susceptible to injury from him.

Maybe it wasn't sperm she needed, but rather Connor's soul.

Thank you. That's all I needed to hear. For me, I question almost
everything. There is a smidge of doubt as to whether it was really about
Connor's sperm. All I'm saying is that for all we know, Cordy could have sex
with herself and still get pregnant if the Jasmine god wanted to grow a
mystical balloon inside her tummy. In the land of magicks, sperm meeting the
egg does not have to be a prerequisite for a mystical pregnancy.

If the sperm met the egg, Jasmine might end up getting a pesky soul.

Intriguing, but how exactly does that work? More food for thought. Thanks

Not to mention how he dropped out of medical school and decided to go
through a mystical time portal to the late 50's and decided to take a job at
an advertising agency.
Then he knocked up Peggy, but she realized he was such a little snot-worm
that she decided not to tell him (think about this: Peggy's baby is the
grandson of two vampires on the paternal side!).
On top of all that, he seems to have lost his immense strength - he keeps on
walking into concrete pillars and the other week he got his ass kicked by a
whiny old British gent (name of Pryce, uncertain if it is any relation to
Wyndam-Pryce).
Now he's cheating on his wife (that's par for the course as Connor went
right after Cordy in the sack) both at a whorehouse and then with one of his
neighbor's wives!
Destroyer from Quor-toth my ass!
