Search engine trending sez:
Everything compiled from Yahoo's Buzz Index and Google Trends:
-Cook, Brooke, Paula and Simon were the only Idol-related people making an
impression on Yahoo's Buzz index this week. Didn't bother screenshotting
it. It wasn't anything spectacular.

Analysis/Speculation:
---
-Castro continues his upward momentum, and could possibly still unseat DArch
or DCook if yesterday's brou-ha-ha doesn't sink him. According to this
data, it's more likely he'll take out DArch. I'm still not ruling out a JC
+ DX finale. 'Nuff said.
-DCook has increased his lead to over twice that of DArch, his next
strongest competitor.
-Syesha didn't even register until about 2 weeks ago??? WHY is she still
here?? Heh.
---
Now, on to iTunes stuff.
Well. First of all...iTunes has completely nuked the ability to do true,
over time, sales comparatives of the Idols. So this is about to get really
vague. However, you can still do an iMix comparative, but it's a daily.
You'll have to take my word for some things, or not, as you so choose.

General notes: I just put together some stats based on iTunes downloads. I
figure this is really a pretty good indicator of where the money is. And we
all know TPTB is all about the money (even though they get the most from the
TV show, this is a portion of the process for them.)
This only applies to artists who've sold more than '1 bar' of iTunes
popularity rank worth of product. Almost everyone has had a download here
and there -- I'm only interested in people who can actually move product
reliably.

And now, from the Department of 'It's Friday, and iTunes Bugs':
---
On the Idols vs. the Top 20, only David Cook's I'm Alive made it into the
list this week, peaking at #11.
---
The iMix stuff is daily trending only, so I'm not going to get real in depth
and just include things I've noticed are staying the same every day.
There is one interesting statistic that came out of looking at the iMixes
which is ... pretty cool. Check this out.
Presence of Idol in an iMix which does NOT contain any other Idol
performances, from any season out of first 100 listed iMixes.
David Cook: 14
Jason Castro: 8
David Archuleta: 8
Syesha Mercado: I didn't bother. There's no point. WHY is she here again?
:P
1. Nothing surprising here. DCook continues to stand out as The People's
Choice.
2. Castro and Archuleta are running neck and neck. Next week will be
interesting.
---
Performance/Studio Statistics:
No more videos are making it into this list because you can't add them to an
iMix, so I'm going to lump performance and studio tracks together.
Number appearances in the list:
David Cook: 11 (10)
David Archuleta: 9 (6)
Jason Castro: 8 (5)
Syesha Mercado: 0 (0)
IE: Who can actually sell more product, more consistently. Salability.
Grade 1: David Cook
Grade 2: David Archuleta
Grade 3: Jason Castro
-The number in parentheses is the information from last week's analysis. :P
-All of these appearances have been checked and verified to stay stable once
daily since the iTunes tracking change took place.
-All of the Idols mentioned get at least one 'place' from the current
popularity of their release for this week, as is to be expected. Except...
-WHY is Syesha still here??? 0 performances making this list, again. Damn.
Points to ponder:
-David Cook continues his dominance, but stays steady, gaining just his one
performance from this week.
-Castro, who continues to be utterly SAVAGED by the show, continues to gain
momentum. At one point, he was outselling DArch this week, but it was
brief.
-David Archuleta and Jason Castro are clearly duking it out for second
place, with Castro gaining rapidly. If he makes it this week, I think he's
a lock for Top 2 if his fans go for it.
-----
Vastly abbreviated, but hopefully still interesting. Enjoy!
Peace,
Pen

I was thinking the exact same thing.
Thanks for the good food for thought, Pen.

Wow great sleuthing. Explains quite a bit as to why the sweet funny
charismatic talented Castro is being savaged by the media. He is a
threat to the"chose one" Cook long ago past Archie. Castro is on his
heels. Crucify the poor kid and you can have the finale you want.
Sorry AI if your show is not rigged, America gets their say and it is
becoming pretty clear they want DC and JC, They are both muscians and
artists. They both will be contemporary recording stars. I can
definitely hear both on the radio. Archie not so much and
Syesha ???? Why is she there is right. Unless like Kat she was
promised top 3. She is a dime a diva. How many do we need to see and
hear? ENOUGH AI ENOUGH> Wake the heck up. You have two incredible
stars in your grasp. DC for top 40 and stadiums, JC for easy
listening and initmate settings. Archie is not going to sell and
Syesha has not sold on Itunes so what makes you think she will sell.
Castro is my fav. I think this young man is amazing. Hehas such a
beautiful voice and I hate im being dragged through the mud. Of all
the Idols this year recorded Jason's voice is the most stellar. But I
want DC to win. Why because he is ready for it and he can fill the
void left when Daughtry got away.
OH and Jason never said he wanted to go home. He missed home. Don't
buy all the SPIN they are dishing. The manipulation is unreal.
