American Idol Catfight: Antonella Barba Photos Upset Idol Girls?
By Jim Roberts
Mar 7, 2007

While suffering through another sub par night for the guys of American
idol on Tuesday night fans of the singing part of the talent show can
at least look forward to the gals teeing it up for a good night of
competition. The talent is deep on the women's side and reportedly
some of the photos that show off the talents of contestant Antonella
Barba are getting under the skin of some of the remaining gals and
rubbing them the wrong way.

One thing is certain - Barba has dominated the early competition with
the buzz and that is a shame as four of these women have a shot at
becoming this year's American idol. And it appears that some are not
pleased that the sexy Antonella is all the rage becuase of her off
screen antics.

It could be easy to predict that some would get fed up and AOL's
TMZ.Com explains: Sources have revealed to TMZ that there's a feud
brewing' backstage at "American Idol." According to our spy, some of
the religious female contestants are none too fond of one Miss
Antonella Barba, since racy photos of the off-key idol began popping
up on the net.

No confrontation has erupted, but it's been downright chilly behind
the scenes, with the idolettes now waiting to see if America decides
to keep the photogenic Barba around for another week, heaven forbid!

Cue the repâ„¢: When contacted, reps for "Idol" had no comment.

It's a shame when the off season looks to be more exciting than the show.

If she makes the top 12, how embarrassed will she be when she's booed
off many stages during the AI tour after the show is done...

Look you microcephalic dweeb, I've never stated that Katharine McPhee
isn't a bitch. I just haven't been shown any evidence that is convincing
one way or the other. How about you show me one fully attributed
interview from someone who actually knows her fairly well, maybe someone
from the group with whom she toured or someone who went to school with her.

It also seems odd that Kellie, who according to some was so wronged by
Katharine hasn't said a mumblin' word about it.

Oh, by the way, I heard on very good authority that you have absolutely
no brain, whatsoever. (Prior to this information, I'd always credited
you with having a brain somewhere between the size of a pea and an
oyster cracker.) The source won't identify himself, but that shouldn't
keep me from believing him or from quoting him whenever possible. Also
Squeeky, that junior high school kid whose lunch money you always
extorted, he says you're a dick, although he wouldn't give me his
address or his new name. Finally, there is just something about seeing
your name on a post which alerts my spider sense that truly mindless of
drivel is about to flow down the information superhighway. See how it works?

I can see why. She can't sing for a god damn, yet she is almost
certainly one of (if not THE) top vote getter(s).

And the answer is: YES. It's completely because of the pictures, and
the fact that the show has done such a piss-poor job of marketing
anyone else. There isn't an automatic in this field. There is at
least one who's in another stratosphere (though some might disagree as
to who -- I agree with Simon that it's LaKisha.), but, without some
degree of buzz, ratings will continue to sag and Antonella will breeze
through the first half of the finals.

Four? There could be five, but they're all black divas. This is
going to divide a legitimate vote, leading to a bloodletting, either
starting right now (Eastern airing of the performances is as I type
this) or in the final 12.

I don't even think it'd have to be religion, though I can understand
the feud and all the more power to those pissed off.

I've got it at better than 50-50 she makes final four.

She's the entire buzz for the competition.

Now, there could be a case where they just tell her that she's not on
the tour. So be that.

But she's going to be around a long time.

Without dispute. It's the only reason she's on the damn show.

No way. If she's lucky enough to make top 12, she may stick around for two
additional weeks due to some weaker competition from some of the boys. 90%
chance she doesn't make top ten.

Oh, please. This is exactly what's wrong with the entire entertainment
industry. Antonella's a ho and and the girl can't sing. She belongs at the
Travelodge bar in Vegas.

Tonight's going to be very very interesting - minus cutie little Haley
Scarnato, Barba is the only other obvious choice for elimination -
based on singing ability.

'IF' the behind the scenes mumblings/rumors are correct, and the other
contestants 'are' beginning to resent all the attention, and votes
based more on the pics than her singing, that Barba is getting -
'and' the better singers start getting voted off instead of little
Miss Thigh-Highs - add the Fenchie Davis comments - and things are
gonna get really ugly for TPTB.

While it's true she cant sing she is indeed good to look at and she
has a pretty mouth. That is what most men are thinking... What I can
do with that mouth.... But it is true the bitch cant sing.

They can't have Antonella distracting the public from whoever this

Yup - but how many "upsets" do you think TPTB are willing to allow?

If they have one tonight, they'll monitor the situation in the next two
weeks. At that point, a second one would get them into high gear
(Simon...."it's time for you to go" etc.) OTOH, if tonight is a double
surprise, expect the machine to ramp up next week.

If there 'is' a double-upset tonight, TPTB really are going to have to
sleep in the bed they've made. If she's not gone this evening, the
longer Barba stays in the contest, the worse Idol appears; and the
more it becomes about 'Antonella' and not 'the next American Idol.'

Sometime around 2 to 3 AM PST this morning, TPTB were either running for
the bathroom followed by multiple conference calls or they were toasting
their good fortune and luck.

The people don't mess up. They put through the individuals that they
wanted to make the final 12. If TPTB don't like it, change the rules
and watch how it negatively impacts their ratings.

No. Sometimes "the people" *are* messed up and they do mess up. Sometimes
the majority is flat-out WRONG.

I could not disagree with you more. The majority of America, as long as

The minute that they take the vote out of the viewers fingers, in any

Whatever the majority decides is the moral standard? American slavery and
barring blacks and women from voting was right as long as the majority said
so? The mob rules? I don't think so. That's almost like magical thinking.
