You both said you didn't see Scotty McCreery on Thursday night's AI
finale (he was sitting right behind Candice's parents when Ryan talked
with them).

Here's a picture from his arrival at the Nokia for the finale:

Thanks, Zob! Nice picture of our boy, Scotty! I still see he wears
that cross necklace...maybe in case he just happens to run into Lady
Gaga again! ;-)

Red carpet arrivals were streamed with Jim Cantiello and others starting at 6:30 EDT,
and Scotty was one of those interviewed. While he was there, Anthony Hopkins tapped
him on the arm to say hello.

Did Scotty even know who Anthony Hopkins was?

I was too busy looking at Candice's dad I guess. While the rest of
the family was jumping for joy and hugging each other, he didn't take
his eyes off his little girl. He didn't want to miss a moment and I
don't blame him. Proud papa!

But now where was Phillip Phillips? That should have been him handing
Candice the trophy instead of Angie.

And where were the others? When Simon left, winners and runners up
serenaded him. But then again everyone knew enough in advance to plan
to be there. Oh well. That's what happens when you wait until after
they say they are going to fire you to say you are quitting. I hope
Keith comes back so I can play the drinking game with his catch word.
He would definitely be the first to lose the pacifier necklace at a
baby shower...baby.

Ya gotta be careful around Anthony Hopkins. He eats people.

P2 canceled 8 concerts a couple of weeks ago for health reasons, supposedly
exhaustion and dehydration (they have since been rescheduled for November). But he
should have been over both of those by now. I suspect there's more to it than that.
His next scheduled appearance is on the Today show on June 28. If that doesn't
happen, there could be a problem. He's supposed to start touring with John Mayer on
July 6 in Milwaukee.

Even with exhaustion and dehydration he could have walked across the
stage to hand her the trophy. Just seems odd.

Speaking of touring, I wish the judges on AI would do what the panel
on The Voice do...take contestants on tour. Mariah should take
Candice on tour and Keith should take Kree on tour. Going on tour
with a big name artist would help them gain fans beyond AI. And it
might bring new viewers to AI.

Interesting. Who would go with Randy? How about Nicki? Someone would draw
the short stick on that one. :) Seriously, I'd love to see that happen.
The judges from "The Voice", however, are still very active in the business
and do regular concerts. I just saw Blake Shelton at his wife's concert
last weekend in Sacramento. It's harder to do when you aren't relevent.
Randy could play back up bass for....

Mariah and Keith each have new singles to promote. Keith said he was
finishing up an album and then going on tour this summer. Mariah
should be doing the same. They are both big names who still command
large venues. Nicki on the other hand must not have anything new
coming out since she didn't perform on the finale. If she did, I'd
say she should take Amber on tour since I think she was her favorite
and close enough to her audience. Maybe if Randy put together a
reunion Journey tour he could take Angie as the opening act.
Otherwise there was no pop judge to pair her up with. But then it
doesn't have to be a judge they send them out with. Any big name
artist will do. The problem is all the big tours are in the summer
and the contestants are stuck with the AI tour in the summer. They
need to figure out a way to work it out. It's common sense
promotion. Of course that requires that they have common sense.

Speaking of Sacramento, what are some fun things to do with two little
boys age 4 and 5 in the area? I'm hoping to drive to that area this
summer to visit my grandkids.

The area has a lot to offer. I'd recommend Old Town, the Train Museum (lots
of hands on stuff for little guys), the Sacramento Zoo, perhaps riding on
the Delta Queen steamboat, Lake Tahoe is 2 hours away, and lots of other
things. I'll ask my daughter, who lives about a half hour away from
Sacramento, for more ideas. She has a toddler and is up on all that stuff.

I haven't been to Fairytale Town, but I certainly have been to Sutter's

I always loved Sutter's Fort when I was a kid, but...since the kids are 4
and 5 they might like Fairytale Town better.

My friend that is going with me has relatives in Lake Tahoe so that
may be one of our stops. Of course it all depends on if I can get the
time off of work. They have this thing about not wanting to let
anyone off for more than a week even if we have a ton of vacation time
we earned. And it also depends on if my friend can really afford to
pay her share of the trip. And it also depends on if my daughter gets
one of the jobs she's applied for in Texas. She hates being so far
away from all her friends. I hate that she and my grandsons live so
far away so I hope she gets one of those jobs.
