OT: SYTYCD ramblings.

I think I have figured out why I like SYTYCD so much.

I don't know anything about dance and therefore just react to how much I
"like" something. I can't really do that with AI because I get too
analytical and picky. With SYTYCD, I'm so impressed with the things the
dancers can do that, if they make a mistake, I wouldn't know. I also find
myself actually interested in the back stories. Strange.

This means nothing. I guess I just had my own little "aha" moment. :)

My take is more along the lines of "video killed the radio star"
in that dance always has been a visual art. Back in the old days
I cared much more about the music than it AND it's surrounding
theater. The added visuals seem to totally cloud (and even bias)
my perceptions these days.

OK, the fact that the SYTYCD judges' comments are far more useful
and much less superfluous also helps.

I was SO upset at myself, as I didn't realize the new season started
Tues. with auditions, until I saw it advertised during A.I. last night,
that the 2nd night of auditions would follow next after the final
performance show! Dumb me! I didn't even see it listed in the TV
schedule on Tues., as for some reason, kept thinking it was starting
late May, or early June, so missed the 1st hour of auditions, and they
probably won't repeat those anytime, so hopefully I can watch them
online. A good swift kick in the rear to me! !@#%^&*!

I do so love SYTYCD, and really am happy to see dancers from that show
perform on DWTS at times!

I know exactly what you mean Moni. When I watch
AI I'm constantly analyzing and making judgements
based on technical aspects of singing, but with
dance, I have no knowledge or background in it. I
don't know good from bad, I just know what I like.
But I will say, I still don't give a rip about
the backstories :-)

I like seeing unlikely dancers surprise and blow me away. Learning, for
example, that one girl had dislocated her knee right before her audition
(that was hard to watch!) and still got up and, with knee wrapped, did her
audition beautifully seems to mean more.

Now, if a singer arrived with a hangnail, I wouldn't care. :)
