WEST COAST SPOILER ALERT: Do not read any farther if you don't yet know the
outcome of tonight's AI finale.
-------------------------
If that Frankie Valli medley had included "Candy Girl", it could have been a
spoiler. Season 12 is now mercifully over, so Season 13 starts right now!
No, really. Online auditions are now open. And this season finally proved
that you don't have to play guitar, or any instrument, to win AI. (Maybe
"The Voice" knocked some sense into the AI voters.) And up until now, no
previous winner had ever tried out for AI in a season before they won, i.e.
no contestant cut in Hollywood had ever came back to win it all. But
Candice Glover never gave up, and now she has reached the top. Let that be
a lesson to us all.
Candice was our fifth-ranked contestant, which has become a lucky number in
the AICC. IIRC, Jordin and D-Cook were No. 5 seeds in their respective
seasons. Finale upsets are also commonplace here as only half the field had
CPs on Candi-girl whereas _everybody_ had CPs on Kreedom. In fact, more
players had 30 or more CPs on Kree (eight, including three with the full 50
and three others with 47 or more) than had _any_ CPs on Candice! The
outcome didn't change the standing much, with only two players changing
positions as zob moved in front of into for eighth. But I am going to come
right out and say it: I am totally embarrassed for my gender this season.
Not only did all five guys in the Top 10 get eliminated before any girl, all
of the girls in the AICC finished above all of the guys, with the aggregate
in between. At least we have finally established Snake Eyes's gender given
_his_ 10th place finish. And if you're counting, my losing streak to my own
dice has now reached three CCs.
Here are the final scores for the 2013 AICC, presented as always by Dewey,
Cheathum, and Howe assisted by Stark-Bell:

And so ends our ninth annual American Idol Certainty Contest. I wasn't sure
whether I should do the "So You Think You Can Dance" contest this year
because of the record-low turnout last year--one that got skunked by Snake
Eyes, at that. Of course, that is why I do not think the SYTYCD diehards
will not want to let the CC go out like that. So for those people, look for
the announcement soon after the first Top 20 cuts are made. For the rest of
the contest regulars, I'll see you August 29 for the NFL picks pool!
