I've been reading some of the posts in here over the last few weeks and
I find it sort of amusing how people enjoy poking holes in the legality
of some of the shadier coutroom gags pulled in Ally McBeal.

Folks, as much as the dramatic script-writing entwines us into the
dramatic elements of the storyline, we can't forget that All McBeal is,
at its heart, a *comedy*.

In comedies, sometimes realism takes a back seat to placing the
characters in unusual or charicaturistic environments (like the firm
being on both sides of a case). I haven't actually seen The Practice,
but I'm sure he doesn't get quite as "creative" with the law in that
show (and I know he didn't during the height of L.A. Law).

Just sit back, and enjoy the fantasy, folks! You didn't have a cow
every time they cut a few corners in "Night Court" and that ran for 8
seasons!

Actually I did, the stretch marks were terrible.

Mary ;-)

Since I'm not very legally literate, I just usually sit back and enjoy the
ride. But I do enjoy the critiques of the legal angles.
