Missing Lafayette woman
Steve Jefferson/Eyewitness News

Lafayette, April 5 - "Even if she doesn't want to come back, just to
call." Susan McClain couldn't hold back tears talking about her
missing sister Sabrina Commons.

No one has seen or heard from Sabrina since Saturday.

"I am hoping that somebody gave her a ride, her vehicle was left. I am
hoping she just wanted to get away for awhile and somebody gave her a
ride."

Monday afternoon search crews checked near Sugar Creek in Montgomery
County. They also traced her last known whereabouts for any sign of
the 32-year-old.

Montgomery County Deputy Chief Bob Coudret says police are looking for
"any evidence to prove she was there; footprint, articles of clothing,
anything that could prove she was at this location."

Police found Commons' 2000 Lincoln Navigator. The right side of her
SUV is damaged from a crash. The driver's side mirror is broken off.
The wheel is damaged and one of the tires is flat.

Someone called police after noticing Sabrina's SUV abandoned at a dead
end. Police found found her purse, cell phone and prescription
medicine inside, and that's not all.

Coudret adds, "There were alcohol bottles found in the vehicle. We
don't know if they belonged to her, but they were in the vehicle."

Right now investigators say they have not found any signs of foul
play.

Sabrina's mysterious disappearance comes just days after Wisconsin
authorities exposed Audrey Seiler. The 20-year-old college student
disappeared and claimed a man abducted her.

It turns out Seiler disappeared on her own account.

Even if that's the case here, "We have family in different states
looking," says McClain. "We want to make sure she is alright. That is
what we want to know."

Sabrina's family believes family problems may have something to do
with her absence.

Either way, they still want to know she is okay.

Volunteers Search For Missing Lafayette Woman
SUV Found Abandoned, Damaged In Rural Area

POSTED: 8:33 pm EDT April 5, 2004

DARLINGTON, Ind. -- Police and volunteers are looking for a Lafayette
woman whose sports utility vehicle was found damaged and abandoned
over the weekend in a rural area near Darlington.

Sabrina Commons, 28, disappeared Saturday night, police said. Her
vehicle (pictured, left) was found with a flat tire on a dead-end road
about 200 yards from Lye Creek.

The SUV was found with damage on one side, police said. Inside, police
found Commons' purse, a cell phone, bottles of prescription medication
and bottles of alcohol.

Police said they don't know why the SUV was near Darlington, which is
about 20 miles south of Lafayette.

More than 25 volunteers -- many of them off-duty public safety
officers -- searched the area Monday. Some of them rode all-terrain
vehicles to cover ground faster.

Commons (pictured, right) is 4 feet 11 inches tall, and has a large
build and dark hair, said Bob Coudret, chief deputy of the Montgomery
County Sheriff's Department.

"We want people around Darlington to keep an eye open," Coudret said.

Anybody ever see the movie "Wrong Turn"?

Maybe I need to get myself a nice quiet cabin in the country, something just
off a country road...
