Kara Kopetsky - missing near Kelsey Smith

Kelsey Smith's body was found. Earlier reports (which I wrongly spread) was
that she went to the same school as Kelsey. That's wrong.

BELTON, Mo. - Belton Police believe Kara Kopetsky was seen on Thursday in
Louisburg, Kan. in the company of a young man. This sighting is uncomfirmed.
Kopetsky, 17, was reported missing earlier this month. She was last seen
before her disappearance at Belton High School on May 4. She is described as
a white female standing 5-foot-5 and 125 pounds. She has hazel eyes and
brown hair.
Police released a composite sketch of the person Kopetsky was spotted with
in Louisburg. He has been described as a white man about 19 years old,
standing about 5-foot-8 and 130 pounds. He has medium brown hair and brown
eyes.
Anyone who has seen Kopetsky or the person in the composite sketch is asked
to call the Belton Police Deptartment at (816) 331-1500.

That's only about 6 or 7 miles from the Longview Lake area where
Kelsey was found.
Are the authorities saying there is "absolutely no connection", or are
they just saying they haven't yet found a connection.

The radio interview with Kara's mother (11 days after she went missing)
makes you wonder if this isn't a mother who strongly suspects her daughter
is a runaway. It is nothing specific she said, just a gut reaction on my
part. However I have heard the mother insists this is not a runaway case, so
I am not sure what to make of her relative calmness. Perhaps she's
medicated.

It doesn't seem there is a whole lot of info out there on the details
of Kara's disappearance. I haven't found anything on her background,
but it's my suspicion that maybe the authorities are/were treating her
as a runaway. Hopefully they will change their focus in the
investigation because of Kara Kopetsky's murder. There are way too
many similarities to ignore.
Maybe we can get Kris to do the timelines. She's good at that.

I just found an article that Kopetsky had a restraining order out on
an ex-boyfriend. Hmmmm... Take off his Elvis sideburns and he could
resemble the guy in the Kelsey Smith video.

I don't think she's a runaway (OR, if it started that way, that's not
how it's ending up). Her cellphone and ATM card haven't been
used.
In that case, they might have their suspect already, if they
could Yust get him to talk.

He could. But I don't think its him. I think perhaps the person last seen
with Kopetsky - the one with the police sketch on her website - could be
the same guy in the Kelsey Smith video, except he's added a goatee.

check of the whole school? Basement and extra storage rooms? At
first I thought she was walking home after school but now I hear that
she never showed up for third period (I think), I also heard that her
ex-boyfriend Kyler (Like Tyler but with a K, not pronounced Killer)
passed a polygraph, he made a comment in the interview that I didn't
understand something about trying to kill himself. Did he try to kill
himself before or after her disappearance? If you check out her
myspace account it talks about she is moving on and leaving Kyler
behind seems she also disappointed in herself for wasting so much time
on him and losing friendships due to her relationship with him. I
would find it strange for a runaway to leave behind money in her
account. If anything it would be someone in hiding but I would think
there would be more things going on in her life to cause her to go
into hiding. I hope she is found soon. Her family needs peace one
way or another. I pray that it is a safe return for a fresh start.
