** Pastor charged with sodomy **

Accusations of sexual misconduct against a preacher led to his arrest and
extradition to Russell County this week.
Christopher Bennett, 30, of Apt. Z6, 200 Franklin Road NE, Atlanta, was arrested
Wednesday in the Atlanta area and charged with second-degree sodomy, said
Russell County Sheriff's Lt. Heath Taylor. The charge stems from a Russell
County High student's disclosure a few days after graduation that Bennett had
inappropriately touched the then 14- or 15-year-old boy in 2004, the lieutenant
said.
"In that disclosure, he stated that (Bennett) was befriending him, mentoring
him, and that on a particular occasion in Christopher's apartment in Phenix
City, that he sexually molested him," Taylor said.
Bennett is the president and CEO of Chris Bennett Ministries and presiding
bishop of the Generation Impact Movement, according to kingdompeople.org. The
Web site claims that Bennett travels across the country and world to preach
about the word of God.
Bennett was held at the Fulton County Jail until Thursday, when he waived
extradition and was taken to the Russell County Jail, where he is being held.
"It is my opinion that he befriends troubled teens and, at least on two
occasions, has had sexual relations with them," Taylor said.
Bennett was charged with another sexual offense in College Park in 2006, Taylor
said. He called the circumstances in both allegations, while unrelated, very
similar.
"He did talk to us and he was somewhat cooperative," Taylor said. "Let's just
say he's cooperative."

Personally I'm all for these guys being publically exposed. They can

If prison worked 100% of the time, there would never be a
repeat offender. There will always be those who return to crime after
being released from prison. There isn't a great deal that can be done
about that.
Pedophilia is a psychological condition, so castration,
chemical or not, wouldn't effect the desire.

Yes, I agree. I never said child porn should be decriminalized -
viewers create a market for it, and fighting the demand side is just
as important as the supply side.

Yes, definately. But how much prison time? Past a certain length,
longer sentences increase the liklihood the person will commit the
same crime again (true for all types of crime).
I think some kind of long-term probation, lifetime for serious violent
offenses (including sexual abuse of children, which I classify as a
specific type of violent crime regardless of whether force was used).
Keep the offender on a short leash even after prison. Some of these
need to live in half-way houses for many years, and again some for the
rest of their lives, where they can be supervised and can't find a
girlfriend to live with who has kids.

Here's my problem with that claim. The posession of child porn, even
if the porn is " fantasy" and does not in fact involve actual
children, shows how potentially dangerous the person can be. If the
person, ( usually male but there are some females) gets SEXUALLY
aroused by images of children, sooner or later he WILL ACT upoin that
fantasy. There are many cases of sexual predators who fantasize then
later act upon their fantasies. Dennis Rader, the BTK Killer,
fantasized about bondage and raping and killing before he started "
hunting" and for years while he hid as a deacon in his church he would
keep numerous pictures of children cut from catalogs and so forth. He
also photographed himself in bondage with a face mask that looked like
a female. And he is only one of many sexual criminals. Some had
sadomasochistic fantasies and when they raped their victims they would
torture them.
I'm not against sexual fantasy. But there are limits, particularly
when it involves other people. Most BDSMs, for example, have rules and
they prefer willing partners for " play" and from what I understand
they would NOT viictimize others. Chld porn is VERY different. A guy
who gets hot at the idea of naked children is going to ACT on his lust
sooner or later. It may be a sex game with a woman that looks like a
child who is willing but if none is available, he's going to FIND a
child.
And why the hell would an ADULT bother with child porn in the first

Agreed. As I pointed out, it's clear auto erotic fantasy
isn't enough for some. I can't say all, since I don't know that, but
wouldn't be at all surprised if there were evidence showing it's
impossible for all.

How many women LOOK like children?
I know there's a genetic condition that keeps some females
from entering puberty naturally, but there are hormone treatments that
kick start it, so that's no longer a concern, as far as I know.
Certainly not in industrialized nations.

I can't understand wanting one, let alone thousands. And
having even one is a crime in every jurisdiction of which I'm aware.
By developing a fantasy I mean the guy sees a child, goes home
and masturbates while fantasizing about the child. While very sick,
no crimes have been committed in such an act.
