The Chicago Police Department is seriously considering scrapping the
police entrance exam, sources tell Fran Spielman.
Dropping the exam would bolster minority hiring and avert legal battles,
according to one source, while others confirm that the exam could be
scrapped to open the process to as many people as possible.
However, the lack of an exam would make Chicago the lone major city
without one, and experts contend that the exam is integral to eliminating
unqualified applicants.
The CPD has tried in recent years to boost minority hiring by offering
the police exam online and turning to minority clergy to help in the
recruitment effort.
But those efforts have met with frustration. Despite seeing an increase
in the number of minority applicants in 2006, the last year the exam was
offered, the online component was never launched.
And as of last year, one in four patrol officers were African-American,
but just one in 12 Lieutenants were of color.

Lowering standards to satisfy the PC/Affirmative Action idiots will result
in a new breed of unsatisfactory guardians of the law. Let's forget this
equal rights nonsense. If minorities wish to be equal, then they have to
bring themselves up to the standards of the majority, and not drag the
majority down to the sub-standards of the minority!!!.

the Washington, DC bar exam "discriminated" as only about 20% could
pass.

That says that the Chicago PD could lower the standards all they
wanted - but all they'd end up with
is a lot of black patrolmen who'd never make sergeant and would retire

Atlanta is a good example the train wreck. Dozens of black APD cops
have committed crimes (often sex crimes) while on duty. Many don't
know the law beyond the most basic requirements for the job and more
than a few are racist against whites and use their badges to
antagonize
them.

I have a friend who failed the police medical test - he was told that he had
flat feet - he told the examiner that he thought all police had flat feet -
hence the nickname flatfoot - this is a true account.

when policemen walked a beat. Having flat feet on starting out would make
walking a beat an onerous chore. I don't know how true it is that many years
of walking a beat results in flat feet - maybe someone could enlighten me on
