Anyone have any first hand experience with each of these? I'm happy with my
7.3, the dealer is telling me the 6.0 puts out more HP and Torque. Hard to
believe.
So, I'm looking for someone who had/has a 7.3 and has also driven the 6.0,
including pulling a trailer.
Thx

Well the dealer is telling you the truth. Wait for the '04s if you really
want one. But if you are happy with what you have then why change?

I worked 32 years at Ford and have some Ford stock . Yes I have a 2002 F250 7.3
and think it is great , but until I see some good feed back on how the new 6.0
and new trany will stand up to pulling RVs I will wait at least two years before
I get the 6.0 if I am still going south for the winters as we do now I have not
seen much so far about the new set up Ford is now using to replace the 7.3 for
2003 . Time will tell , and as I said I am a very happy camper with the 7.3 at
this time with only 46,000 km on it .

I test drove a loaded F250 with the 6.0 and was very impressed. Without a load
(of course) the acceleration was surprisingly good from both a stop and from
30mph. Inside the cab with windows up, it was as quiet as a gasser. I'm waiting
for the '04's to buy.

I'm looking to upgrade my F350 to a 450/550, but would like to have 7.3.

Ya'll do know that pord has pulled the 6.0 powerfart off of the
market? My good freind who works for the local dealer called and told
me last night that they had been told DO NOT SELL a new ford 6.0, the
motor is "under evaluation". I truely do hate it for the folks who
have spent good money for what is rapidly turning into a nightmare.

I just spent the last 10 minutes trying to verify your input on the various
6.0 forms. Not one word was said. Usually these forms are the first to
have a rumor. Either you are far ahead of the information curve, or, you
are providing 'bogus' information. I suspect the latter.

I found it here http://turbodieselregister.com/
Go to the site, go to search, put in Ford 6.0, you will find the post
and comments there. Plenty of info on the net concerning problems that
Ford is having with the 6.0 -- seems like the base engine is okay,
Ford's injection system is killing them. Internationl doesn't have
many problems with their version.

Kerry, I went to your web site and find that is a Dodge site. It would be
nice to have a source that does not have an axe to grind. They would just
love for the 6.0 to have a catastrophic problem. You original post said
that your buddy called with the information. Seems not very consistent.

It is true that Ford did have teething problems with their new 6.0. Most
have been worked out. The site 'the diesel stop'
http://forums.thedieselstop.com/ubbthreads/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=2003Drive
train seems to be the most active in the 6.0. There is still no mention of
your information. We'll keep on monitoring the situation. However, I think
that your input will be the last.

FYI, I don't have a diesel. I just like to keep up to date.

When i bought my 99 F250 SD with the 7.3 Liter Powerstroke, I did not get an
engine with the "cackle" that required the replacement of the #8 injector; I
did not lose any tubo bolts; my turbo hose did not blow off; my air filter
did not get sucked into the turbo; etc.. Many of these problems were widely
reported on the dieselstop forums. These problems seemed to be in the early
production runs of the 99's. So why would anyone be surprised if there are
a few problems with the new 6.0?

Mellowed, and the rest, please go back and read my first post. The
first sentence is---- Just posted at another web
site---------------

This means that I found this info at another web site while searching
for info on the 6.0. I found enough negative stuff on the 6.0 that I
would not buy a first year production run. I love Fords since my 66
mustang. I've driven dozens of company Ford trucks. I've even driven
the first GM diesel trucks that we had so much trouble with, we pulled
the diesels and put in 350 gas engines in under 50,000 miles on both
pickups. All car companies have had problems with certain models, so
anyone buying a new vehicle should do their home work and not just
read all the rah rah that some feel they need to do regardless of what
the facts are. The Dodge site that I found and now read is pretty
frank, even with respect to their own marque problems.
I would wait until Ford gets the injection system fixed before buying
a 6.0 diesel.

I was told by a Ford sales person that the 7.3 is being discontinued, and soon
only the 6.0 will be available. Can anyone confirm?

The 7.3L is no longer made. The 6.0L is the only diesel which is
currently available in newly produced Ford F250s and F350s.

For more information about the problems 6.0L owners are having, check
out the forums on flatratetech.com and blueovalnews.com, if information
from a Dodge diesel site is too 'suspect' for you.

I was in Louisville, KY for a Derbey Day party. At the party were alot
of Ford employes with the new 6.0. I drove one hooked to my trailer, which I
had towed from S.E. KY with my 7.3 PSD and the 6.0 does have more power and
torque in my op.
