Does anyone have any opinions on engine additivies such as: Duralube or
Slick 50?
Thanks
Ron

Right up there with deer whistles, fuel line magnets, tornado, toilet paper

My Slick-50 story is, I have a 1967 Plymouth Barracuda. While driving along
listening to the kids chatter I didn't see the chunk of metal fall off the
Junk Yard truck
in front of me until it was to late. When I drove over it there was a hell
of a noise,
scrap, grind thud. This was about 15 miles from home. I was about to try to
catch the truck
and realized that the kids where in the car, and figured better not. I'd
just get into
a fight. I drove home instead. when I got home and was about to back into
the
drive way I noticed that the oil pressure was zero. I open the hood to check
the oil
and there was no reading on the dip stick, so I looked under to see what
kind of damage
the junk yard metal made. There was a tear in the oil pan that I could put
my hand through.
Now you tell me. Could an engine without that treatment made it fifteen
miles? I don't
think so. I replaced the oil pan the following week. The motor still runs
fine, no smoke, rapping
or ticking. I no cruise the same road regular to see if I can find that
truck to make him
pay for the oil pan.

My opinion is, just another way to separate gullible people from their money.

No way !!!!!
I once ran slick 50 in a vehicle
and later accidently left out the drain plug after an oil
change.
new oil drained right out and down the driveway.
Started her up and sqeeeck she froze right up.
Slick 50 did not matter. Needed to line bore the block
after that indident.

When they run the engines without oil for the displays at
fairs and such. They have installed extremely thin bearings
in the motor. which keeps them from freezing up.

Not to mention, there's no load on it. You can idle a v-8 for hours without
oil even without the $nake oil additive.

YES!

My opinion - The best you can hope for when you put Slick 50 or Duralube
in your car is that they don't hurt anything other than you wallet.
Pouring them directly into the oil recycling tank is your best move if
you have been tricked into buying either of these products.

Just be sure not to mix up where each goes - and occasionally adding
coolant might be a good idea - as long as you add it to the correct
place.

Slick 50 themselves all they want I do not believe in any form of mericle
oil addatives. Keep good quality oil in your pan and change it regular and
you will go far.

What bothers me is how DuraLube doesn't actually say what the
additive is that does all the cool things it does. Does anybody
know what it is? Same as what's in gear oil but doesn't stink?

Not arguing that it's any good or cost effective just want to
know what it is, or if it even exists. :)
