Hmmm, didn't know they were bringing up that much stuff. I was under
the impression the ship was under permanent protection from salvage.
Guess I was wrong. A bit saddening to me.

I guess I have mixed emotions on the Titanic. It is the grave of so many but
the effort needed to retrieve anything is so great and maybe the "treasures"
need to be brought up to see the light. The ocean will claim it all soon
enough. As I always say, "Treasure is where you find it." I saw a picture
recently where a kid found a life preserver from the Titanic after huge
floods up stream. Some museum or collector lost that treasure to fate just
like the poor thousands lost it that fateful night on the Titanic.

Yeah, I agree with the mixed emotions thing for sure. It was a tragedy
and it kind of tugs at the heart.
But then again, it sure would be nice if the things had to be salvaged
they would be put on public display. Too much stuff that the regular
type people would love to see gets tucked away where only a select few
have access.
Some things are too precious or maybe I should say symbolize the
sanctity of a human life to be exhumed. In a similar vein I guess I
think of the Arizona at Pearl Harbor. But then again, it is a shallow
water tragedy and is a war memorial today. That would be impossible
with the Titanic in such deep water. I think the Utah is still where
she sank, pretty much untouched except for what armaments might have
been salvaged for later use in the war.
Sooo, I guess I am going to have to join the Great Waffler Society on
this one too:)
But give me a shot at a sunken Spanish Treasure ship and watch how
fast I hit the water:)

Sorry I've been kinda sick lately and have not been posting. I think
they are trying get permission to bring more stuff up, but I doubt
they will get it. This issue will probably got to court.

I believe personally all this stuff should brought up "except the
ship" so that the items of the titanic can be preserved. What are we
going to learn from them on the bottom of the ocean rotten? If not
brought up we can lose all of this for ever. From what I've heard a
lot of the items on the ship " dishes, plates, clocks, and silver
wire" were one of a kinda items made just for the titanic, not to
mention are bottles, coin, paper money, and many other things in
vaults down there in the ocean that were on the ship. This is just my
2 cents. What do you guys think/

After doing a little more research, I completely agree they should be
brought up but placed on display in a museum in a single place (US
Soil). It would make one heck of a museum. The few pieces recovered so
far are valued at around $100 million. Just imagine what is left?
I was hesitant at first because of the sanctity of the site but after
reading more about it, I learned it is being treated very poorly by
the present alleged "owners".
The video link left some stuff out and wasn't exactly accurate in his
statements. For instance no mention was made of the parts about the
wreck being damaged by tour vessels. To the best I could find there is
no absolute decision made that requires the pieces to be held as a
collection which means they could be sold off piecemeal worldwide
(think China).

Somehow the part about the couple getting married in a submersible
that landed on the bow of the ship just seems out of place to me. I
guess I am very old fashioned:) Please, no offense to anyone is
intended whatsoever.
I am so old fashioned I am not convinced that Carbon Dioxide is a
hazardous pollutant as newly declared by the EPA because I personally
made a lot of it while typing this post:) In fact, I think I'll be in
bigger trouble when I "stop" making Carbon Dioxide......
