Several observes seem to think that EZY will be pulling out of EMA at
the end of the year. The airport is desperately attempting
damage-limitation by saying that all their destinations (bar Venice) are
covered by other operators.

That's quite unusual, as the low-costs usually try to avoid that kind of
duplication. But got me thinking: who will be doing Geneva - not Ryanair
and I don't remember seeing a BMIbaby plane there. But it seems it's on
the BMIBaby routemap painted on the wall.

I enquired about this today, and they do fly - but only in the skiing
season! Which leaves those of us flying there for other reasons a bit
out in the cold (metaphorically, it was quite warm there last week).

Which of the other ex-EZY destinations are also not satisfactorily
substituted, I wonder?

While easyJet may close the base, they may still continue to serve some
/ most of their routes on W-patterns from other bases. Geneva is
probably the most likely to carry on, since it can be operated directly
from the Geneva base.

EZY fly to Geneva from Luton, but EMA is much more convenient for me!
And the flights are at much less convenient times of day.

Yes, the flights to GVA are full; but I think they are looking at their
entire operation so presumably there must be a lack of critical mass in
one form or another.

Having said that, Jet2 are apparently starting an operation at EMA with
only one plane and about seven (not daily) destinations.

What might make sense is for EZY-Switzerland to fly to EMA from its GVA
hub, after this UK hub closes.
