Do you know how cool that message would be with the right background
music? Maybe with video of Megatron talking with his legions in the
background standing at attention, the camera panning a close-up when he
mentions them? You can tell he hasn't done the voice in a while (Megaton
sounds like an old man :), but he still sounds good enough for the part.

Most of what's in the interview I've seen in other interviews, which is
why I wish there had been more Transformers questions, like in a Rik Bakke
interview. Now I don't have to feel bad about preferring Nimoy as Galvatron,
since Welker didn't like playing him (or at least as much as Megs).

I think part of that may be from the lack of flanging that was done in
post-production

Perhaps, but I can't say I ever really noticed the flanging in G1, aside
from Soundwave's heavily post-processed voice. I sounds as if some
effect was performed on this clip, perhaps flanging, perhaps reverb,
perhaps artifacts of low-bitrate and/or compression, perhaps a
combination of the above.

I tend to agree with ShadowWing, he's just out of practice... it *is* a
character he hasn't done in 20 years. There's a bit of a "wheeze" to it
(almost like Mum-Ra as interpreted by Welker), but that's probably
intentional, like Megs has recently emerged from some sort of dormancy.
It also has a hint of a nondescript, vaguely uppercrust British accent
which is just barely non-Megs-ish enough to be jarring.

His voice does sound a bit off.... whether from lack of post or just
rustiness on his part, I dunno.

t.k.

Perhaps he's made of shoddy materials ;)

I thought he was made of sterner stuff? I don't think that much of it
can be based on flanging. All that did to most of the characters was add a
reverb and maybe some semi-static. The character, however, is not one he's
done in a while, but he may have used a variation of the voice at one point
or another. Peter Cullen, on the other hand, has been doing a variation of
his Prime voice for years as the "disembodied voice" of Toonami ads, and the
narration for IGPX. So the last time I heard him speak as Prime for the
fans, it was pretty much dead on.

I tweaked the original audio to make it sound more like Megatron. You
