I'm very sorry for not posting to this group for a few years, but due
to a few set-backs with my job at Hasbro I've been forced to remain
silent. I have now been cleared by the company to speak once more.
The new Transformers line after Robots in Disguise runs its course is
currently in development. Let me assure you that it is indeed a
special thing. The new line is the true return to The Transformers. It
is called "Transforce Transformers" and is a full relaunch of the
original Transformers toys. Hasbro will first rerelease the first two
years of the Transformers complete with little drivers. Optimus Prime
will include a Spike, a Sparkplug and matrix exactly like the one I've
told you of in the past. The little drivers fit perfectly into the
little seats that the toys have. It's amazing what Hasbro has done
with these.
The combiners will be released in the second wave with special
additions to them. New weapons will be included as will a video
cassette or DVD including information about each combiner.
Eventually Hasbro will get to the Headmasters and Targetmasters, if
the series is successful. We intend to release the Japanese figures as
well, if there is sufficient fan interest.
Also, available as a mail-away exclusive will be the thirty-inch
Unicron. It's still amazing to gaze upon. I'm really, really blessed.
Now, thankfully, so are you.
For now that's all I can say.
From your Transformer insider, Patrick Stewart
For all you newbies, I'll explain: occasionally somebody posting under the
name Patrick Stewart posts some ridiculous rumors about upcoming TF stuff.
At least twice in the past the very same story has been posted about a
trip to Hasbro HQ where he learned all sorts of secrets. I'm sure you can
find them in Google. This is a new batch of "info", but please don't be
fooled.

Awww, c'mon, Pat. Two years off the newsgroup and *this* is the best
you can come up with? Sheesh. This is weak stuff, really. Definately
not up to snuff with the full-size transforming Optimus Prime you dreamed
up a couple years back.

Amazing! How DO they manage to get little driver figures to fit into
seats that were originally intended to hold, of all things, little driver
figures? The mind boggles!

Okay, now that's almost amusing in its prepostrousness. Still not up
to the calibre of years past. You're slipping, Patty boy, really
slipping.

Now THIS is funny. Folks, if you ain't seen it, go look up the pix of
the prototype Unicron on the web. You're only blessed if you keep that
fat ugly beach ball far, far away from you.

Patster, I'm disappointed. Really, I'm hurt. This was a really weak
performance compared to years past. I just hope you haven't lost your
touch permanently...

In article <slrn9khdkj....@bu-ast.bu.edu>, Steve-o Stonebraker says...
HEre we go again....
Anyway, to debunk a few things.
According to Shocky at Allspark, the new CGI series has been underway for
some time at Mainframe, and DOES feature vehicles. He has also clearly said
that the new models are simply not the old G1 character models, though there
is some heavy character re-use occuring. In other words, while it's
obviously related to G1, it simply is not going to be G1.
Secondly, toy lines. While the new line for 2002 may be a rare case, it's
far far too early for the details of the line to be completely settled. Some
of the toys and angles likely /have/ been decided on, but to make a claim
about knowing what all the details are for a line that is still 15 months
from release is just this shy of ludicrous.
Hasbro does have rights to the NEO Unicron mold, and it's possible that
we'll see him in use in the future, but I wouldn't at all bet on this.
Unless Unicron figures prominantly in the new story line, it would be
pointless to have a large-scaled figure of him.
Sorry, Patrick, but, as far as anyone can tell, you have not now, nor have
you ever had, any contacts at Hasbro, Takara, Mainframe, or the local
McDonald's. Thanks for playing.
Neale
I don't know what Shocky's credentials are, but I trust your rumors a
little more than the average bear's, so let's pretend for a moment that
all of this is cold, hard fact...

Uh-oh.
This sounds like BMach II.
When both the series and the toys are in development at the same time,
it could be really good or really bad. In the best-case scenario,
characters exist for the sake of the show, and the show's models stem
from the toys. Given the time they seem to be spending on this, I'm
hopeful. But we all know what happens when a show is shoved into
production with a just few pieces of concept art...

What?
I didn't mean any offense, Neale. In fact, I thought I was giving you a
compliment. If some random ATTer had come in quoting something off the
AllSpark, I would have blown it off without a thought. But you've
defended your sources well enough in the past that I take your "insider
reports" with fewer grains of salt than most anyone else. I suppose I
could have done some research to find out who this "Shocky" is, but if
you give him credit, then it's good enough for me to hypothesize off of.
Even you've admitted, though, that what appears to be solid information
from Hasbro/Mainframe can always change, so the "let's pretend" sentence
indicates my lack of naivete but willingness to indulge myself in speculation.

"Shockwave" is the screen name of one of the founders of the AllSpark,
who in real life works for YTV, and has made quite a few contacts &
friends at Mainframe over the years thru his job. If he says something
about Mainframe or YTV consider it pretty much fact. He's like a
Canadian Ben Yee. :-)

I know I should not say this but......
Doesn't RiD have such molds in it? The Combaticons, remember? ANd they
are forefront RiD toys....
And don't knock some of the masters. The Con Powermasters for instance,
are great toys. The two jets alone kick the crap out of all the
Skyraider jets.

I thought he was referring to the BW Neo prototype Unicron, the one
that looked really, really good...
Nope. If you liik at the Micromaster Hot Rodimus in the pic for comparison,.
he's maybe a foot, perhaps a shade over that, in height.

I'm just jumpy anymore, I guess. Sorry, Jackpot, for leaping to the defense

Shockwave is a Mainframe employee that's given information to AllSpark in
the past. He's been nearly 100 percent reliable, well and above just about
any other 'show' source we've ever seen. So, I've got little reason not to
trust him.

This is something I wish more people would appreciate. Things DO change.
Hasbro is in deep financial doo-doo (and they look bound and determined to
make it WORSE this year), so they're rushing product, changing decisions,
and what have you to keep things going. Nothing is final, apparently even
when it's on the shelves!
Neale
It was always my understanding that the only thing that came of this,
was the physical prototype. I have no doubt they have the rights to
use it, but I don't think there is a mold for it.
It was also my understanding that the dealer of WhizBang toys is
currently in posession of the prototype (as he had it sitting out,
with a sign that said NO PICTURES, at Botcon).
That means that either Hasbro/Takara has a second prototype of
it.....or none at all, which would make that actual toy a fanboy's
dream, but nothing more.
I don't think we will ever see that one. Maybe in some FORM down the
line, but not that one.
-Dusty
-Dusty
That's correct. There is no evidence that a mold for the Neo Unicron
exists. Most likely there is none.
> It was also my understanding that the dealer of WhizBang toys is
> currently in posession of the prototype (as he had it sitting out,
> with a sign that said NO PICTURES, at Botcon).
The dealer at BotCon who had a Unicron proto (and has been said to be
WhizBang Toys) did not have the Neo prototype. He had one of the G1
prototypes. Two toy designs for Unicron were turned into protos during
G1. The larger one came second, and it the prototype which has been seen
at previous BotCons and at this one. I have a vague memory of hearing at
BotCon 96 that two copies of this design exist, but, it's possible that
the "two" prototypes I heard about were the giant one and the smaller,
first design.
