Before anyone says nay or yay, here's a custom ebay fan made Rodimus
Prime toy using the cybertron megatron 2005 toy mold pics?
I'd really love for Hasbro to do this rodimus prime recolor & release
it in USA stores like walmart, target,Toys R US,K-Mart,Kaybee,etc...
I'd really love for the people doing botcon exclusives to do this
recolor for a future botcon convention. If not then how about Hasbro
does this as either a mass retail USA recolor. or maybe a USA store
exclusive recolor sold at either Walmart, target or Toys R Us. maybe a
SDCC Convention exclusive, takara recolor exclusive or e-hobby japanese
exclusive.
So what do you guys think of this recolor? do you like it or hate it.
what do you guys think would be the best avenue for this recolor?USA
store release a botcon recolor exclusive? SDCC Convention
exclusive,Takara exclusive,E-Hobby exclusive,store exclusive? or?
My personal side comments: It's not a straight repaint, the ebay seller
remolded the megatron head helmet to resemble G-1 Rodimus Prime. I
don't care for the yellow fenders,I'd replace the yellow colored
fenders with red. other than that this recolor toy is perfection.
What's everyone's comments viewing this thread. If anyone at Hasbro is
reading this thread, please try to make this rodimus prime recolor. I
know it'll sell beyond well,Rodimus Prime is so popular as a character
& toy. I think this cybertron 2005 megatron toy mold is the perfect
mold to use for a Rodimus Prime recolor.

Didn't you actually buy this thing? With plans to repaint the fenders?
SHHHHHHHHH. You're not supposed to notice when he's lying.

Great toys, great prices, and great service since 2001!
Whoops sorry, I had no idea. ;-)
I don't think the mold fits the character. It's a massive mold -- not
just because it's a leader scale, but because the cockpit is so very
tiny. Cybertron Megatron was a massively powerful robot, and depended
upon his size and strength quite a bit in battle.
Certainly Cartoon G1 Rodimus Prime was not a great warrior, and never
relied upon brute force. He was the introspective leader, and this
type of body really goes against that characterization.

You do know that the paint operations would have to be simplified, and
that it would lose a lot of what makes this look good, right?
Gustavo!
Yes,I
Yes,I bought this toy weeks ago.
I did repaint the fenders dark red. I actually bought another
Cybertron Galvatron & cybertron Megatron off of ebay as blank slates
to paint certain parts & switch certain parts. I gave Cybertron
Megatron's arms to rodimus,then I switched out cybertron galvatron's
fist/jet nose & lower stomach & gave e'm to rodimus. I transferred
the cybertron galvatron feet to rodimus.
As much as I improved the over all look of the guys custom. you just
can't campare factory dyed plastic to fan done hand painted plastic.
I would love to see takara/hasbro recolor this toy in factory dyed
plastic. the end result just looks more neat, professional & just
better.
I envision the toy being the same red as the alternators rodimus, with
a darker orange in the same parts/pieces/limbs like classics 1.0
hotrod,energon rodimus & 1986 rodimus/hotrod.
What exactly am I lying about?
I own the toy,I paid almost over $400 for the thing.
I wasn't implying I didn't own it & wanted a first toy of it. I
simplly wanted a factory dyed plastic colored version verse the fan
made hand painted version that I own. lets face it no matter how clean
of a hand painted job one does. there's always runny lines, colors
messing out of sync & the over all messy look.
I'm not a selfish person,I'd like everyone to own this & not just me.
I don't get all cry baby when a botcon exclusive toy gets repainted by
takara & my investment drops in value. example all those cry baby TF
fans who cried when takara released & recolored the classics 1.0 jet
seekers in those botcon characters.
Just think 1986 TF Cartoon Season 3 Scourge in a episode called "
burden hardest to bear."
When Scourge insterted the matrix into his chest he turned into a
longer, wider more powerful looooking nightmarish version of his
previous form. Scourge didn't turn into something radically different
like hotrod did in the 1986 movie. I always envisioned the perfect
matrix form for hotrod turned rodimus prime would be a
longer, wider, more powerful, nightmarish version of is tiny hotrod
sports car alt mode.

Depends on which continuity your referring too. The 1986 movie
Rodimus Prime had a different persona than season 3 rodimus prime. In
the 1986 Movie,Rodimus Prime was so strong & powerful he picked up a
struggling galvatron over his head & threw him out of unicron.
Galvatron tried to resist but was clearly no match in power for
rodimus prime. then there's the UK G-1 Marvel Rodimus Prime Who
fights hands to hand combat against fortress maximus. don't forget
about Japanese cartoon series Headmasters series Rodimus Prime that
fights along optimus prime & defeats a few decepticons. I'd like to
think of this Rodimus Prime character as the LION-0 from the
Thundercats cartoon series.

That's okay with me,the ebay seller over did things a bit with all
that added yellow that previous versions of cartoon/toy hotrods/
rodimus Primes didn't have yellow in the areas. anyways all a great
rodimus Prime recolor needs is dark bright red, dark orange, grey &
black high lights.
Does that mean you paid actually under $400? :/

The auction ended at $350,shipping was $15. Total was $365.
