hey all,

I've been watching TF with my girlfriend (trying to get her hooked on
it heheh) and now we're ready to order the 2nd season. My question is,
do I go with Rhino (which seems like a "no" because of how they messed
with the audio) or Metrodome (which I believe has only some episdoes
where the sound is altered?) Are there any other choices? any
recommendations? thanks!

Yes, there are other choices. You can still find people willing to sell copies
of the episodes as they appear in their original, untampered broadcast format.
However, the easiest option is probably just to buy the Rhino DVD sets and try
really hard to ignore the sound effects.

It's one of the toys from the Microman line that Hasbro inherited from Takara
during the early days of the Transformers toy line. Based on the Mazda Familia
1500XG, the toy wasn't assigned a unique identity of its own, and was instead
sold in Bumblebee and Cliffjumper packaging. Some people also call it
Bumblejumper.

It's the "Transformers will be right back" before and "And now, back to
Transformers" after bits at advert breaks.

I recommend the Metrodome option - their Season 2, Part 1 set is much
the same as Rhino's, but with Season 2, Part 2, the 2.0 track got
fixed (it had extra noises on Rhino's, when only the 5.1 tracks should
have those), and for Season 3/4, Metrodome produced ONE set, instead
of two, like Rhino, and also restored "Dark Awakening"'s original
ending. They haven't done season one yet, because it was done by the
company who previously held the lisence, and Metrodome didn't want to
do it again first - their Season 1, unfortunately including the iffy
Rhino animation, will be out in September.

Y'know when a show goes to commercial, and you get a short clip that
says "This show will return in a moment" or "after these messages,"
then after the ad break, you get "We now return to..."? Those are
bumpers. On Rhino's sets, they are in the episodes, but on
Metrodome's, they have been removed, with a view to including them as
extras on the final set.

Is it confirmed that they'll be using the Rhino 'remastering'? That's a real
shame, I ain't too sure I'll want to buy it anymore...

Features-wise the Metrodome version is missing the public service announcements
which I wanted to see. The Rhino set is not in chronological order which is
annoying. How's the Australian set?

Unfortunately, yeah, it's true, but if it's any consolation, when I
told Jane about all the changes (directed her to a list made by...
Steve-O, I think it was?), she was distressed to learn of their
inferiority, but admitted there was little they could have done, even
if they had known sooner.

They may be on the Season One set. In fact, most of Rhino's worthwhile
extras which have not appeared on Metrodome sets already are in the
running to wind up on the Season One set, like all the interviews with
G1 writers and actors.
