Yesterday I noticed that there were some of the unproduced Robot
Heroes figures on eBay, specifically the Robots in Disguise version of
Megatron, G1 Prowl, and Deathsaurus (or Dessaras or however you want
to spell it). These are extremely rare (I haven't seen them on eBay
at all since the first batch of prototypes went up for sale around
2009 or so).

This is the guy who has them up for sale:

(I can't believe I have this extra Robot Heroes Prowl that's just
sitting around collecting dust because nobody wants to buy him from
me.)

How much are you asking?

These kind of sellers always make me wary with the sheer amount of
"prototype" items they have, they have Classics Rodimus in 4 or 5
different colors, and 3 or 4 of many of them, as well as "unassembled
prototype" versions of some things, robot heroes Deathsaurus, To me
much of it screams 3rd party KO, but I dont have it on hand to be
sure. It just seems some of it is in pretty high quantity to all be
prototypes or test runs. Still looks really neat, I just dont know how
authentic it is.

I still have the 2 robot heroes figs that came with the special
edition of ROTF, all the Robot Heroes I ever got.

I wish someone would knock off the Robot Heroes, and fill out some of the missing characters where we have the obvious mold-mates. Prowl was rare, but Bluestreak and Smokescreen didn't even exist!

He also has 2000 RID "Megatron" which to me seems like a rare and
unlikely character.

Hey, I was all set to donate my extra Prowl to one of the guys who
made reproduction parts, on the condition that I got some copies that
I could paint into Bluestreak or Smokescreen. Nobody was the
slightest bit interested, which frankly surprised the hell out of me.

I dunno. It's so rare that I have never been able to determine how
much it's worth. I'm so hesitant to offer it up on eBay since I want
it to end up in the hands of somebody who really loves Robot Heroes
(which may or may not be the same as the guy who is willing to shell
out the most cash). Maybe that's just the idealist in me talking.

All the unpainted "prototype" Robot Heroes I've ever seen on eBay seem
to just be unpainted production samples (all-yellow Sunstreaker, all-
purple Galvatron, etc.) I don't think they're third-party
duplicates. I imagine they were stolen from the factory (Robot Heroes
are tiny and easy to pocket) before they got to the painting stage.
If I had a choice, I'd rather own painted versions of RiD Megatron and
friends than unpainted ones, but even unpainted ones would be okay
because I could finish the job myself.

I really regret not bidding on Robot Heroes Laserbeak the one time I
saw him. Unfortunately, all the unproduced Robot Heroes stuff showed
up on eBay all at once, and there was no way I would have been able to
compete in all the auctions, so I had to focus on the one I wanted
most (Prowl—who, as it turns out, I was able to get twice).

I still have an extra Robot Heroes Predaking sitting around somewhere,
too. (Remember when there was only one character that the name
Predaking could possibly be referring to? Sigh.)
