Nah. There are plenty of decent folks around these parts. Velvet
Glove, who posts infrequently but is always smart and funny and
insightful. Dave Van Domelen and his insanely detailed toy reviews.
Gustavo Wombat, who writes great fanfic vignettes and has an absurd,
off-the-wall sense of humor. SteveD, who comes up with brilliant,
high-minded ideas about Transformers technology. Ultra Magnotron and
his awesome G1 subtitles project. Onslaught Six, who isn't afraid to
tell it like it is. Chad Rushing, who is always polite and well-
spoken and never has an unkind word to say about anyone. The list
goes on. If there was nobody left worth talking to here, then I would
leave. But they're still here, so I keep talkin'.

And that's why I don't post there.

LOL, I just mutter them under my breath rather than post them
publicly. ;-) Believe it or not, my friends jokingly called me The
Incredible Hulk in junior high/high school, because I had such a
terrible, hair-trigger temper. They would go out of their way to
anger me just to see me explode in a fit of rage. Greater wisdom and
maturity improved my self-control over the years, but my temper does
flare up occasionally (and rightfully so) in response to others'
overtly unjust, selfish, or careless actions.

OK, that was kind of fun seeing two different perspectives of myself
(and other posters). Thanks, Zob, for the compliments... may I return
them with the acknowledgement that you are a considerate and generous
enough person to actually be able to make a post like that, singling
out so many individuals with specific praise. Plus, I value your
broad knowledge of Transformers in general, your detailed knowledge of
G1 and your own intelligent commentary and humour. And the kitbashes,
which always tickle me.

It's interesting to analyse our contributions to the fandom, and to
ATT specifically. I've never claimed to be a big, hardcore TF fan. I
don't collect the toys, I don't make the effort to follow every bit of
media out there--which does mean I've got nothing to contribute to the
majority of threads around here. I just dip in and out at will.
Sometimes my main interest is writing G1 fanfic (and coming up with
stories for the G1 universe is probably always going to be my biggest
time-spender in TFs), sometimes it's in whatever the current TV show
is.

Right now, I'm mostly posting about Transformers Prime, discussing the
episodes with Gustavo and Ultra Magnotron, which I'm enjoying hugely,
since I love Prime so much. I could also talk about Rescue Bots,
since my son is into those, but there hasn't been a lot of interest in
that on these boards. I also realised in April, that it had been ten
years since I wrote my first TF fanfic, and to celebrate that
anniversary, I'm working on my old fanfic website, with the intention
of getting that back up and running with some improvements.

These days, when I don't want to spend too much time writing, I don't
think about myself in terms of my *contribution* to the fandom.
That's why I've made no effort to join another TF board, despite my
excitement for Prime. But in the reverse perspective, ATT contributes
to *my* fandom, and it's always a pleasure to come here. Even when I
go through spates of not posting, I lurk, and check it at least once a
day.

A big thanks to everybody who does post with intelligence,
consideration and respect.

Yay! I merit mentioning!

In all seriousness: TFViews isn't like that at all! (Okay, I'll admit,
we derail threads hardcore, but it's always with other discussion. We
type PAGES of this stuff. We might generate more actual thoughtful
discussion than the entirety of TFW and Seibertron combined.)
Seriously, the minimum response in any given TFViews thread is going
to be 'at least' a paragraph.

You've got me all wrong, man. I don't waste time on the weekends
posting 'anywhere.' This is actually my second stop in the morning--my
first is, sure, TFViews, but I come here just as often. It's just that
the discussion around here lately hasn't been anything I'm interested
in. (I don't like Prime. Not my thing.)

But "posting on the weekends" is a complete misnomer because I was
just gone from here for the entire weekend. It's Tuesday, I'm back at
work, and so I'm posting! That's how I roll.

It's funny you still think this.

You typed this statement, yet why is it that you are constantly begging
Hasbro for stuff that will never see the light of day? If you truly
feel ATT doesn't matter and Hasbro doesn't look at it, then why do you
incessantly call out their name and ask them to make stuff? You can't
have it both ways.

There are mentally ill people on Usenet. Yes, it's true. Deathy is one
of them. There is no rationalizing with them.
