I mentioned to a friend of mine who's reprinting the UK stuff in his
newsletter - copyright. I think it would be very bad if anyone who worked
on the UK Marvel comic to see scans of the comic online (let alone in a
club newsletter). You leave yourself to possible lawsuit. These guys made
a living off this comic (and several others) and I don't think they'd be
too happy that folks can see their work for free. So be really careful.
Give credit to those that did that particular issue at least. BTW, that
was one of the really great issues by Senior.

Scans of UK issue #102- Fallen Angel (part 2) are up at my page if you want
to look.

SEE: Galvatron express some annoyance at being interrupted from killing
stuff
LAUGH: As Swoop makes some (very) small puns
MARVEL: At Shockwave's shiney breast.
BE SLIGHTLY CONFUSED: At the fact that Grimlock seems to be a good couple of
heads taller than Galvatron
WONDER: Who exactly IS that on Geoff Senior's rather nice painted cover.
THINK: or any more present-tense verbs to go here
SLEEP: When you can't/

That first part of the story, issue #101 is also up, as is drawn by the
wonderful Geoff Senior

Well, be that as it may, Marvel UK is no more. A lot of those Writers
and Artists are now working for DC in the States, and some are still
working in the UK for Fleetway or CI. However, I doubt they see much
difference in the sale of backissues and the publication on the internet
of their work. After all - they recieve no money from the sale of back
issues - do they? If you give them credit and are sure to take the
images away if you ask, I truely doubt they will take any legal action
against you. All these Comics are long out of print. Of course putting
this images into a newsletter - or any printed publication which can be
sold is probably much more iffy...

Well, I do believe he already did so. Reprinting stuff on the internet
is an iffy thing as far as copyright goes. But remember that Marvel UK
is now long defunct and this art is long out of print. Unless this
situation changes, some peoples only chance to see this stuff is likely
to be over the internet, and unless any of the creators state otherwise
I think its fair enough for someone to reproduce it. (As long as no
profit is made).

Marc. (Who also notes that Hasbro could probably put a stop to it -
seeing as they own copyright to almost all the characters)

I have credited the writer and artist. I'll change that to a complete credit
list.
I can see the point about the lawsuit, but who exactly is it going to hurt?
Printing 10 year old comics from a defunct publisher. The only way to get
these comics now is second hand, and Furman et al aren't getting any money
from that.

And as another point, Prowl's comic scans have loads of UK issues up on
their site. Since it hasn't been updated in a long while, I thought I'd put
up some issues that he hasn't got up. If I find out that he stopped updating
his sight because of threatened legal action, I'll stop.
On the other hand, how is this any worse than putting up clips from the
cartoon, or even whole episodes. In that case their is the *very small*
possibility that they mioght get reshown. The chances of any of these UK
issues being reprinted is none to non-existent.

Lot's of US fans have never seen these stories. I just wanted to give them a
chance to see some of Simon Furman's earlier work.

And also, Senior didn't draw this issue. He drew the (extremely cool) cover.
Jeff Anderson drew the actual issue.

Would it help if I put one of those Transformers copyright Hasbro etc blurb
bits ont he main page? What exactly should go in that, as I have no idea.

Hey, do you think you could make zipped up files of entire comics which can be
read off-line? That would be a major improvement.

Not a bad idea, but Zipping up the comics wouldn't make a difference. They
are already JPEG's, and so Zipping them would make no difference to their
size.

What I do (using IE) is right click over every page and select 'Open in New
Window' Do that with all the pages quickly. It'll take the smae amount of
size.

Still, if people would prefer the ZIP idea, tell me. If enough request it,
I'll change it. I'll have to pull down the individual pages though, as I
haven't got enough sever space to have what will be essentially the same
files twice.
Besides, people who haven't got WinZip (or the Mac) equivalent would be left
out. Although anyone who hasn't got a ZIP manager no is clearly mad.

Mail me if you want the ZIP idea. Or post here. Whatever. I'm easy. (not
like that, get your mind out of the gutter. :) )

I just thought I'd mention this. You posed the question in your review
of Big Shutdown as to why Blaster wouldn't want to investigate the death of
a cassette that might have been one of "his." This is because he wasn't
around at the time, since he had been deactivated long before during the
Underbase escapade with Starscream. Hope that helps...
