Sounds more like an incompetant PR firm was trying to ride it, not
Hasbro.

You can't purposefully create fan terminology. It has to evolve
naturally. Reminds me of when representatives from Nickelodeon
started calling fans of Ninja Turtles "sewer heads" and expecting it
to stick.

Yeah. That was just weird.

Sewers have man holes and man hole covers... How about Man Holers?

Again I've got to give the Turtle fans props for reacting swiftly. They
put a stop to that "Sewer Heads" thing quite fast.

I'm hesitant to say so, but I'm giving props to Nickelodeon
for listening. Fans have tried to put a stop to many things,
and Hollywood has refused to listen to us. For once, they
listened.

Too bad it has nothing to do with space aliens posing as
ninja turtles, but I'll take whatever victory I can.

If the Turtles are going to be space aliens, then I want Krang to be a
haberdasher from New Jersey.

Quiet! Michael Bay might hear you...

I had never heard of the Brony craze before you posted about it, so I
ended up watching a long Youtube documentary on it out of curiosity.
I must have been living in a cave or something to have been totally
ignorant of it.

Apparently Michael Bay scrapped the idea. Or left the project or
something...anyway, it's not happening now.

Hmm...well, I heard it via somebody on Facebook but a Google search
turns up nothing. Perhaps just wishful thinking on their part?

Youtube documentaries aren't necessarily accurate. Try Ponibooru, /r/MLP,

I'm actually quite intrigued by how incredibly fast the latest generation
of MLP assembled its massive internet fan base, given that all the
previous generations to date tend to be considered boring fluff in
comparison. It's as if Transformers had been around since '84, but was
considered about as interesting as watching paint dry, until Transformers
Animated/Bayverse suddenly hit the screens and the entire current-day
Transformers fanbase and pop-culture coalesced out of the ether around it.

It was a documentary for a college course made by a confessed Brony,
so it gave a very balanced view of the phenomenon rather than a false
caricature of it.

I watched it too. Honestly, I don't get the Brony thing. I enjoy
watch MLP:FIM, but I'm not a Brony. The show is too childish for
me. I used to watch MLP as a kid, so I think it's mostly
nostalgia makes me watch it.

I'd never buy the toys or write fan fiction... or see if there is
a newsgroup, message board or other kind of online community. I
just it watch on Netlix. That's it.

Does that much make me a Brony?

No clue. I know some girls on Tumblr who watch it. That's it.
