But the TFs I'd like to see supersized are the Dinobots ('cuz dinos are
suppose to be humungous) and the Aerialbots. I think the Aerials have
the best "little component" transformation with their jetpacks in back.
However, they would have to find a new look for Superion (the worse
looking Gestalt IMHO). A larger Bumblebee would be cool as well, and not
to mention Windcharger and Tailgate (awesome looking cars).

Well, the mention of PowerGlide got me on my 'to-scale' though processes
again... If PowerGlide were to scale with the Seekers and JetFire, he'd be
bigger'n all of 'em. A-10's are BIG planes.
As for others I'd have liked to see bigger, Metroplex, to scale with the

Trypticon, also to-scale with the *Masters =) =)
Sludge, to scale with the other Dinobots :)
The MicroMaster bases and the first four MicroMaster patrols (before they got

As for blaster, just take a mini-cassette deck, parts from a small walkman,

Catch the eyes? That's a ridiculous excise. Sure they caught my eyes but
the colours were so loud that it took me until this year to buy them and
that's because they were 50% off. I don't think we or the kids are too blind
anyway; what do they think we are? Insects? If they wanted to use the
"catch the eyes concept" the could make the packaging really bright
instead. The Autobots Cyberjets had dull colours but THAT REALLY caught
my eyes and it caught my money too, even at the Chinatown price of C$10
each (they never appeared in any other stores here). In addition, I never
ever bought any recoloured Transformers before if I already have one with the

True ... if you really have the search-image of the Transformer packaging in
your head, you'd likely react to any toy box that looks similar, even if you
only catch a glimpse of it out of the corner of your eye. For years after they
changed the lettering and the look of the boxes, I'd still stop dead in my
tracks if I caught the hint of a purple or red grid-pattern on the packaging of
some other toy, since my search-image was tuned to it. A lot of the rip-off
toy companies took advantage of that, packaging their recolored bootlegs in
packages with an identical background and identical style of lettering. For
those of us who really knew what was a real Transformer and what wasn't, the
second, closer look made it very obvious, but the ploy surely fooled a lot of
hurried holiday shoppers who were buying stuff for their kids....
As for the bright colors, I personally love some of the tacky G2 coloring,
and that orange jet with the tiger stripes is one of my all-time favorites ...
but there have been instances when it was just inappropriate. The Decepticon
Rotor Force guys, for instance, were originally released with black rotors,
which went with their overall color scheme. They were followed shortly
thereafter by re-releases with red rotors -- to stand out better on the
shelves. And maybe to make the rotor more obvious and easier to find when
you've spun it off into the middle of a room and it landed on a dark carpet
somewhere. But it just didn't go with the rest of the toys' colors, and was a
stupid move, typical of a company that was more worried about short-term
profits than about maintaining the integrity of the characters. I have *much*
higher hopes for Kenner, especially after this year's BotCon.....

I think he's an F-22 ATF with F-14 wings. Personally, I woul have
preferred a straight F-22, but then they would have had a much bigger

After lengthy consultation of my big book of warplanes, I determined
that Hooligan/Jetfire is a F-22 body and tail with the wings of an F-111.
You can see the advanced stealth design elements on the body (jagged ports
etc) and the distinctive angled hexagonal tail fins. The F-22, however, is
a fixed-wing craft, so they modified the wings to make him look more like
Jetfire. Why they did the hybrid game so carefully that even tiny details
of the F-22 stand out, I don't know. But they did.

Spacy is also a hybrid, the experimental forward swept plane was
the X-29, and was built from a F-20 fusilage, which has a single engine
and fin. The shape of the fin was kept, but the engine exhausts molded
into the back of the strongback (as opposed to the dumb looking foot
vents) are closest to the YF-23, though they should be mounted at the
beginning of a "trench" exhast that supposedly helps keep IR signature
down. The nose/cockpit is also YF-23, but the shape of the nose/fusilage
join (the chest in robot mode) doesn't look like any plane that I'm
familiar with, except of course the other TFs with similar
transformations.

Hmmm... depends on how you define "day one". As with many others, I knew
about BW long before they hit the shelves, thanks to some info placed on
the group. I had seen pictures in toy magazines before they appeared...
But, even though I knew they were coming, even the first time I heard the
info, I didn't say "oh man, this is gonna suck!!" I reserved judgement
until I saw some pictures. And what I saw was promising... super-posable,
and with decent animal modes. Okay, the names stunk... the jury was still
out, but leaning towards liking them.
I searched for many weeks for the BWs. Then, one snowy, icy day, with the
office closed, I called up Target to see if they had them. They did!
Despite the weather, I drove to Target to check them out, and see if they
were worth buying.
Oh, who am I kidding. I was going to buy them, plain and simple. Hell, I
bought the mediocre Go-Bot repaints... I walked away from Target with
Dinobot, Tarantulas and Waspinator. One look and I was VERY impressed...
and once they were out of the package, I was even MORE impressed.
So yes, I'd say that I liked BW from the start...

Well, when I first heard about BW, I wasn't too thrilled,
primarily because it was first reported that BW would be dropping the
'Transformers' name. However, as soon as I saw the toys, the "Must Have"
thought process definately took hold. :)

He does look alot like A YF-12......I think that was the plane they

I must admit that when I first heard about BW I thought "Great more
pathetic crap not worthy to carry the Transformers name." I was a
little let down by the G2's that I had seen (dosen't show does it?)
But I figured I'd at least check them out, so I headed down to
Wall-Mart to look at them. I walked down an isle filled with Power

Are you talking about the Conquest x-30 (?). Out of all the Joe stuff

First time I heard of them I throught they were a ripoff (add on TV) and tho I

Didn't they do a version that was red/maroonish with a light grey
fishnet? I think the storyline was that a bunch of equipment got captured
by on both sides, so Cobra got the (mostly lame-o) Joe gear and the Joes
finally got some of the cool looking Cobra gear. That red with grey
netting was the best color scheme of the whole toy line!

Also, isn't there a law that says that any toy modeled after a vehicle
has to have some changes made so that it's not an exact replica? For
trademark/copyright/whatever reasons...
As for model kits that are exact, don't they have to pay royalties to the

detailing as well (granted, it's usually not as obvious...). My

On the other hand, a neon green tank *is* unrealistic--you're
right, but it's still cool. They don't sell him anymore though &
no one around here ever marked him down (In contrast, I used to
