Heard a little more info from my friend in Japan on the new toy line and
show, it's apparently going to be called "Transformers: 2000." Most of
the other info was the same as that from DVD's site, including the rumor
(unconfirmed at this point) that recolored Gobots will be used for some of
the Cybertron toys. The Cybertron leader will be called Super Fire Convoy
(not just Fire Convoy) and will indeed be a fire truck. The Destron
Leader will be Gigatron, as was already reported. Beast Wars will not be
part of the title, appparently, even though some of the Destrons will be
made up of Transmetal 2's. I'm wondering, since Beast Wars isn't part of
the title, if they'll still use the Maximal and Predacon insignias, or if
they'll perhaps go back to the old Autobot and Decepticon insignias from
G1 or G2, or maybe use the Beast Machines insignias... or will it be
something new? At any rate, I'm very excited about this line, as we'll
finally be getting some more modern-day vehicle TFs (even if the G2 Gobots
are in the line, there's no way they could make up all of the Cybertron
toys, or even a majority of them, I'm sure there will be some new molds in
addition to Super Fire Convoy.) I'm also betting that the show will be
awesome, if Beast Wars is indeed not doing too well in Japan, then they'll
want to make something great that will bring all the kiddies and fans
back. It would be nice if it was animated by Sunrise, like how the
GaoGaiGar and other Yuusha shows were done, but I kinda doubt it. I hope
the animation will be better than Neo, but since Neo was better than II,
I'd bet on the animation being another step up, along the lines of
Masterforce or Victory. They would also be wise to learn from their past
mistakes and have abetter storyline, as they'll be coming right off of our
S3 of BW, and they'll want to have a story that will keep everyone hooked.
I may just be being overly-optimistic, or blindly faithful, but if Beast
Machines is the only alternative, then I'll gladly take whatever it is
that Japan has to offer.
