Well now, that's a pleasant surprise IMO.
It sure seems like the freebie & club figures are worse than the
botcon figures. I kinda feel like the freebie & club figures are the
scraps that were left over that were deemed not worthy to be botcon
convention figures.
I think the Punch/Counterpunch exclusive is a cool idea and he's a
(forthcoming) club figure.
t.k.
it's using a mold that has already received 2 repaints. the mold was
first introduced as Sunstreaker. 2nd it was repainted as sideswipe.
3rd it was repainted as a Henkei redalert.
now 4th it's being repainted as punch/counterpunch.
Personally I feel the botcon sunstreaker/sideswipe convention
exclusives using the CR/Rid car brothers prowl was a far better mold.
it looked more like a lamborgini, was more sleeker & has transparent
clear car windows,with rubber tires.
I also feel the Binal-tech/Alternators Sunstreaker/Sideswipe mold is a
far better updated homage mold than the classics 2.0 sunstreaker/
sideswipe mold.
IMO,The classics 2.0 Sunstreaker/sideswipe fails as a toy & updated
homage. due to certain key factors like: no rubber tires,no
transparent clear car windows. over all more kiddy design compared to
the BT/ALT & Rid botcon versions. the 2.0 toy mold comes off a very un-
elegant,fat & non-sleek. the 2.0 paint job doesn't give off the
realistic feel that the BT/ALT & botcon Rid versions had.
Universe Hot Shot is one of the least compelling updates -- it's just
not a better toy than the original, and it doesn't do anything new or
interesting with the character. It's a mold that I would have expected
to never see again, and dragging it out for a club-exclusive redeco is
almost absurd.
What's next? Universe Dinobot and Cheetor?
Gustavo!
Make that HOPED to never see again....
Even the Henkei version, with guns, never made it post the initial
transform to robot mode with me. He now sits somewhere way way in the
back of the classic/henkei shelves sharing jokes with Cheetor....
Ah, you mean BotCon Grimlock and Tigatron, don't you? :)
t.k.
or far worse, botcon trypticon & ravage.
