What has she done that is so Wrong? so Intolerable? so Evil?
And why in the spotted heck do the words _Decepticon_ and _Why_
always pop up sometime during or after posts concerning her?

You'll notice that the majority of the times that it's happened lately,
the initial post that starts the thread is posted by someone new that most
likely isn't entirely aware of the backlash that follows.

As Pyre [Rock] said in another post, the thread *usually* starts out
innocently enough. However, one person will reference her, then another,
old wounds open up and next thing you know it's "Flamefest `99."
Personally, since this seems to happen whenever her name comes up, I would
prefer to not mention her at all. A shame in a way, but if it keeps the
peace...

Certainly do. I try to avoid threads like the current one running.
It's just not something I feel strongly enough about to contribute anything
to.

Likewise. In fact, were it not for Raksha, I would never have completed
my collection of Transformers Action Cards (from 1985 for those keeping
track). She was pleasant to talk to and helped me end a fourteen year long
hunt. Everyone has they're opinions and are entitled to them.

Well, for better or for worse, Raksha is one of the most prominent Transfans in
the Internet community. People are bound to mention her as they would Ben Yee
or, uh, that other guy.
The thing is, of course, that it takes two sides to start a battle. Every time
Raksha or one of her supporters defends her, they continue to fuel the fires.
I understand the need to speak up for yourself and your cause, and some might
argue that they can't just stand there and watch Raksha being attacked. So
they fight back.
Isn't this a bit like the trolls that pop in to disrupt ATT every so often?
They're trying to get a rise out of the newsgroup, and they get exactly what
they want when people respond to the asinine posts. Likewise, every time
someone (intentionally or not) pushes the "Raksha" hot button, someone (usually
Skyflight--not picking on you, it's admirable to stand up for a friend)
invariably responds with a lengthy tirade on why they should leave Raksha the
hell alone.
Here's a thought. Instead of taking the bait and responding to the attacks,
why not just exercise some self-control and ignore the original post? Until
this whole debalce started, I had made a resolution to only post if I had
something good or productive to contribute. I'll admit I've allowed myself to
be dragged into numerous flame wars, all for causes I felt strongly about. But
as Opus once said, ya gotta draw the line somewhere.
In short, don't curse the darkness. Light a candle. Please.

Ouch, I sense a long thread of irrate female Transfans coming on. :-)
Raksha, whose real name is J^HRaksha, is a popular American female
Transformers fan, who is a bit older than me and a bit younger than my
father. She has a pet snake called Avatar. She likes scorpions. She
hosted a Botcon somewhen, I think it was 1994 or 1995. She prefers the
Decepticons over the Autobots, and Generation 1 over Beast Wars. These
viewpoints, which she adamantly defends, have caused furious arguments
on Transformers newsgroups. Raksha is rarely seen on this newsgroup
these days, preferring the newsgroup alt.toys.transformers.classic.
moderated, which she helps moderate. Raksha has a homepage, but I
keep forgetting the URL. There should be a link to it at Robert Jung's
page (www.digiserve.com/eescape/tf/Transformers.shtml) and/or Iggy
Drougge's homepage (www.canit.se/~optimus/tf.html). I sold a Finnish
Transformers board game to Raksha way back in summer 1996.

Actually, my posts (at least in my view) are more likely to be about the
falsehoods that are being spread and the misconceptions about points of
view. It seems fairly self-evident to me why people should leave her alone
(or at least refrain from personal attacks).
As to why I post such articles, I've always felt that when lies and
misconceptions are being spread around, the record needs to be set straight.
Particularly on a newsgroup like ATT. Over the years I've seen a lot of
young TransFans start out as impressionable newbies and gradually become
knowlegable mature TransFans. And if all they know about Decepticon fans in
general and Raksha in particular is the lies and insults that flamers toss
out, how will that shape their attitudes about us? What will they pick up
about being a TransFan in general when flames are let go without comment but
rational logical responses to those flames are challenged?

Okay, I missed the question, but assuming that it was "when was the term
"slag" first used in Transformers", what about Return of Optimus Prime part
2? Or doesn't that count? And if not, why not? And if still not, then still
why not?

It would count if I'd phrased the question to encompass both series. The
actual question read:
ZobTrivia of the Day (8/3): The pejorative "slag" was first used in what BW
episode?
So there. Thpbbptt. :)
ZobTrivia of the Day (8/8): Name nine of Soundwave's cassettes from the
cartoon?
Answer for 8/8: Dirge was destroyed in G.I. JOE AND THE TFS #3; TF #50, and
TFG2 #12.
OK, here goes: Laserbeak, Buzzsaw (he did appear in the cartoon once,
IIRC), Ravage, Rumble, Frenzy, Ratbat, that funky scouting cassette,
Overkill, and <drumroll> Slugfest!

I think he meant as an expletive. Hey, if you want to talk about early uses
Wheeljack: "Immobilizer! It can stop any moving object in its
tracks. Once
I get a larger model booted up to max power, it’ll deactivate
the Decepticons permanently!
Starscream: Deactivate us, eh? We should vaporize those Autobot
fools and
fuse their carcasses into slag!
Megatron: We will, and we’ll use their own immobilizer
against them!

As far as I remember, he appeared three times, in "City of Steel",
"Atlantis,
Arise!" and then I regret to say I can't remember off-hand which the last
one is.

Even though Zob's questions are still really difficult for us, why not have it
where something would be a little harder for *him*? Take for instance, say, the
number of Throttlebots in the Brazilian TF line, multiplied by the number of
Korean knockoffs of everything from G1 to Beast Wars, then subtract the number
of TFs who died in the Movie, comic #50, comic #75, and G2 comic #11. Divide
THAT number by the number of times Jazz appeared in the cartoon, comic, and
Japanese continuity. I'm sure he won't be able to stump us, heh heh heh! :)
(By the way, the answer I got was 3, j/k)
