ROTF voyager grindor would make a perfect TF animated megatron toy.

most noticeable the ROTF Grindor already has the medium grey & black
classics colors of both 1984 gun megatron & TF animated 2008 leader
sized megatron.
All that's really needed is to swap out the ROTF Grindor robot head
with classics 1.0 voyager sized nerf gun megatron's robot head. buying
Rit grey color dye should make the megatron head fit in color wise. or
just buy a paint grey marker & color in the robot head.
Personally I don't think the grindor toy requires any extra applied
paint apps. but feel free to add them.

the Blackout design had been used for Megs. I think that Helicopter is
a perfect altmode for Megs. I was pleased they chose it for Animated,
but for the fact that I can't stomach the visual style of Animated
hardly at all...

Except, a helicopter is an exceptionally fragile thing. They're
really, really vulnerable, and lack armor because they have to be so
light.
Megatron is a big, hulking, tough robot who (except in Animated)
transforms into a big, hulking, tough vehicle. (And, even in Animated,
they downplay the fragility of helicopters)

Phooey. There's never been much correlation between the fragility of a
TF and its altmode. If there were, Starscream and all the Seekers
would be really fragile.
Plus, not all helicopters are delicate. Remember the Russian HIND?
