Well, my hopes of a surprise IRA or INLA attack on the funeral procession
have been crushed, which ideally would have wiped out the whole royal
inbreds as well as a lot of whining Diana worshippers (who will probably
now spawn a cult as insipid as that of Jim Morrison or Elvis).
Were these Micks drunk at the trigger? They really fucked up a golden
opportunity. Not only would they have scared the living shit out the of
Brits, they also would have done the English a favor by giving them a
republic of their own. And of course, it would have given all of us a lot
of fun.

You're closer than you might think. The UK "Secret Service" (as in
their version of the CIA is traditionally overseen by the Royal Family,
the head is appointed by the Crown.

Oh, if only the CIA was still in that business. These days, if there's any
"work" to be done, they farm it off on somebody else (like the KGB did with
the Bulgarians). The Church Committee hearings pretty much fucked it for
the "direct action" side of things at Langley. Oh, well...
