I thought "Armageddon" was pretty much "Deep Impact" ..and for the first
time in my life, I was wrong about something.. DI is a pre-9/11
nonsensical, unrealistic would-be nail-biter (had anyone cared about a
single character portrayed) that attempts to shed light on the basic
goodness of humanity by suggesting some people would give up their
ticket to the only safe place on earth so that a mother with a
child/girlfriend/abusive father who abandoned his family would have a
chance at life. They showed a single shot (in the background for a brief
moment) of what would actually be occurring if everyone found out a
comet would be causing an extinction-level event within a few weeks..
absolute chaos, looting, arson, gang rapes, vehicular homicides, random
mass shootings, cannibalism, and random torturing of animals and small
children. The reality is..

President: "A comet will be striking the earth in the next two weeAAAA!"

<reporter jams pointy end of microphone into President's skull, removes,
and then skullfucks dead President in gushing pool of blood>

<Secret Service men shoots skullfucker and panic fires dozens of rounds
into the rest of the reporters trying to bludgeon them with their camera
equipment>

<thousands of buildings in hundreds of cities worldwide set on fire
within seconds of the interrupted announcement>

<within minutes, tens of thousands of homes broken into and hundreds of
thousands of people randomly beaten to death with nearest available
blunt instrument>

<within the first hour, millions of rounds of ammunition randomly shot
into anyone without a gun>

<3/4s of the world's population either dead or critically wounded within
two hours>

News announcement: "The astronauts in "Messiah" (the spaceship sent up
to rescue earth) have successfully deflected the comet away from earth
with 30 nuclear warheads. Earth is completely out of danger."

<Worldwide arrests of murder, rape, arson, looting, assault, etc.. suspects>

<Hundreds of thousands immediately sentenced to death and formally executed>

<Millions of people locked up in make-shift "prisons", mostly life
sentences>

<Vastly depopulated countries clean up mess, redistribute land and
property, kick-start new industrial age, plant food and flowers, and
live in peace and harmony for the rest of their lives>

Hollywood would rake in billions if they'd just tell it like it is..

You seem sufficiently empowered with writing skills; why not write it?
I would change the ending, though. Make it so civilization doesn't recover from the scare.

Coupl'a things, 'nehmo54'.. first, I find it hard to believe there's 53
other oxygen breathers currently using "nehmo" as a nym, seeing as it's
the most ridiculous I've ever stumbled upon, so.. lose the asinine nym
and come up with a decent one or I'll have you hunted down, soaked in
kerosene, beaten like a Muslim girl, lit up and shot.

As to the ending ..go fuck yourself.. the ending is perfect the way it
stands.

Why the trolling compliment about my writing skills, hmmm? Is that some
sort of set-up for a phishing scheme? Do you harvest email addys to
blast 'em with spam, malware infested attachments, and links to innocent
looking landing pages with nonexistent products to gather credit card
numbers you can sell to the highest bidders? I'll have your entire
nuclear family wiped out, their homes blown the fuck up .._then_ I'll
start goin' to work on ya..

Next.. stop posting with Google Groups, get a reader, and get a real
host. You wasted a good two minutes of my life editing a single fuckin'
post just to make it readable for all the normal folk in here. Google
Groups users are the laziest, most worthless assramming fuckstains on
Usenet ..right up there with Twitterers, Facebookers, and Pinteresters.

Finally, you asked: "Why not write it?"

<thinking>

Good idea!

..hardly original, though
