(O)bligatory (B)rave (E)xit (S)peech---
It's the 'brave' but ineffectual speech that many people, particularly those who feel the need to condemn others for not having lived up to their prejudiced views of what alt.tarot is supposed to be, make when they feel compelled to publicly announce they are no longer going to post to this newsgroup.
It's a variation of Nixon's infamous---'you won't have Nixon to kick around anymore,' comments. It's often dunked in the same bucket of cant.
Over the years, the similarities of these speeches, given over and over again in slightly different but always dreary forms, caused us to simplify the form---OBES. When people start whining about styles and not paying much attention to content here, when they start mentioning the 'c' word, civility, and complaining about the lack of same from others, those are signs (albeit, not necessarily absolute indications) that the person is drafting his OBES and will soon be feeling 'obliged' to tell us all off and then won't WE ever feel bad about it.
So far, few people have felt particularly bad about it.
In fact, OBES's can be opportunities for celebrating a sense of accomplishment---one less sanctimonious nitwit to gum up the 'works'.
Of course a lot of these people hang around for years in lurk mode or 'plot' mode and I suspect a lot of them reappear wearing variations of AOL disguises, but once one has delivered an honest-to-(G)oddess OBES, the ignominy of it rather stains whatever remains of the dregs of his life.
You can assist yourself in not feeling obliged to make some 'brave', but lame, speech of exit, by reading the FAQ for this newsgroup:
It does explain the 'rules'. It also explains the predominant point of view that shapes discourse here. And it will likely teach you some things about tarot.

LOLOLOL! I think this may be yet another topic that shouldbe covered in theAlt.Tarot FAQ..lol (along with the earlier "where to get a deck online" suggestion) Are you taking notes by any chance JK? It would serve a very useful purpose ,ya know? :-)

I don't think so---it's more fun to have people ask about it.

The FAQ does suggest that people can take advantage of the facility of online commercial resources for obtaining decks and books.
To include links to or specific mentions of these resources may be taken by some (or even most) people to constitute an endorsement of them. Of course I could provide a disclaimer, but no one takes those seriously.
The FAQ is not an advertising circular (at least not yet).

Hmmm.....That's a good point . Plus, there is always someone quick with an answer to that question anyhow....

I honestly thought it was an acronym for (O)ne (B)orn (E)very (S)econd
Ah well, I guess the OBES and the OBES are not entirely irreconcilable.
You've been challenged on numerous occasions by a number of posters here to provide substantive arguments about why you don't like the alt.tarot FAQ and why you claimed it needed to be 'replaced'. You ignored these challenges, and you've refused to discuss with me what you don't like about the FAQ.
So here, I'll offer one more time: detail your specific dislikes of the FAQ, and why you think it should be replaced, and post them here for all of us to see and discuss.
> and all you seem to be able to > do is start foaming at the mouth and scream about how > wrong we are.....
It is possible (and some might say, highly likely) that you are wrong about your understandings of things.
If you're afraid to voice your opinion because you're afraid others will disagree with it, then your opinion will never carry any force with anyone other than yourself.
>"Gee. Why is _everybody_ in this newsgroup > and idiot but me? Rant! Rant!"
While I'm sure you are an idiot, that's not the point here.
I'm offering you, and have offered you, an opportunity to specify your complaints---here on the group---where we can all read them and reply to them.
Why do you refuse?
Clearly, if I'm so obviously wrong, and your complaints carry such obviously compelling insights, you should have no problem convincing the group that the FAQ should be replaced.
Why do you refuse this opportunity?
> I liked you better when you were Simon, jk!
Not surprising, your likes and dislikes seem to be entirely based upon your delusions.

This is like those puzzles in the newspapers...can you find the differences in these two pictures?
