The fact is, they haven't inherited power, only glamour. In the
present utterly commodified civilization, they'd be idiots not to
trade on it. And the media is brainlessly needy of objects in order to
make good livings. (I wish I could make as good a living just being
sleazy.) So they make use of it, but if it were not what the PUBLIC
wants, there would be no money in it. So I blame the public, frankly.

In her just-about-last interview, Diana told a friend at The New
Yorker, "Andrew and Anne work harder than all the rest of them, but
they hardly get any credit for it; it's most unfair."

P.S. The last reigning queen was also extremely close to her first
grandchild, who was sixth in line for the throne at his birth (ahead
of her four younger daughters) and who was at her bedside when she
died. He became Kaiser Wilhelm II. So it don't mean much, do it?
