Subject: Royal Marriages Act coverage

The Royal Marriages Act purports to regulate the marriages of all of the
descendants of George II except for the descendants of "princesses who
marry into foreign houses".  A generation ago Farran pointed out a loophole
which can be exploited.  See discussion of Farran's arguments elsewhere.
In the list below, I'll list only one Farran exemption for each person who
had one, though most of them had more than one.

The phrase "into foreign houses" has, as far as I know, never been
precisely defined.  Since the "Sophia Naturalization Act" made all of
Sophia's descendants British, I'm treating all instances where a princess
(loosely defined as any female descendant of George II) marries a man who
appears to be foreign (i.e., not British) but is descended from Sophia as
*not* marrying into a foreign house.

That's all of the descendants of George II.

Considering (1) the Farran exemption, and (2) the British nationality of
all descendants of the Electress Sophia of Hannover, it appears that the
only persons living today who could be covered by the Royal Marriages Act
would be:

(1) Maria Vladimirovna and her descendants by any future husbands.

(2) Alexander Ramsay of Mar and his descendants.

(3) Descendants of Earl Mountbatten of Burma (though if his mother "married
into a foreign house" then this group is exempt).

All three of these are descended from Queen Victoria.  Victoria could
reasonably be described as a "princess who married into a foreign house"
(Saxe-Coburg and Gotha).  If so, then these three groups would also be
exempt, and the Royal Marriages Act is dead.
