Usually in presenting a viewpoint, erudite persons will give an argument stressing reasons for that view backed up by some degree of supporting evidence.

What sort of African chiefships are you recognizing as
"nobility"?...plenty of African republics recognize
their indigenous chiefs somehow.

of sons,etc.

A son of an elder son who did not inherit would have to have been
barred for some other reason.Illegitimacy,obviously, bars succession
(the full term is "heirs male of the body lawfully begotten").

I suppose I would have said in an international context. The title of
archduke is unusual and unique to the Archhouse of Austria only
(although the King of Spain does include it among his numerous
titles).

Hello Caroline. When those posts were made, this was a fairly serious group which discussed, amongst other things, the genealogy of the peerage. Brooke, for instance, is very interested in peerage families with Jewish roots.
If the Hon. Sampson or Hon. William had sons, one of them would have become the 2nd Baron Eardley. Are you saying that Lord Eardley had LEGITIMATE grandsons?
