Doesn't that rather blow your "God created whales as it says in Genesis" out of the water. Can a retraction be expected?'

Translation "changed the text to try to make it at least somewhat
plausible. See "Whales"

The Fifty Bibles of Constantine were Bibles commissioned in 331 AD by
Constantine I and prepared by Eusebius of Caesarea.
The Latin Vulgate is a late 4th-century Latin translation of the
Bible. It was largely the work of St. Jerome, who was commissioned by
Pope Damasus I in 382 to make a revision of the old Latin
translations.
So as you can see there was no actual Christian Bible until the 4th
Century AD.

And the bible as it is today was not fixed or "canonical"
until the Council of Trent in 1546 (Catholicism) and the
Westminster Confession of Faith of 1647 for the Protestants.

The Catholics had a lot to do with keeping the Bible out of the hands of
the vast majority of people. Thank god for the invention of the printing
press.

Are you blaming the Catholic Church for the fact there was no Bible
before the 4th Century AD?

Your god had nothing to do with the printing press.

No--but before the printing press was invented, most people did not have
their own Bibles.

No, not for a great while. First, books were oppressively expensive; second, most folks couldn't read anyway. While the printing press later dramatically lowered the price of books, and while the Bible was the most-printed book, in Europe at least it wasn't until late in the 1600's when middle-class folks, at least those in countries (like Scotland) with free public education, could both have and read books.

That all changed after the first King James Bibles were printed on
thousands of different printing presses. It became the best selling book
in the world and is still the best selling book in the world. Most every
person in America has a copy of the Bible.
