Actually, the reason that was so wonderful (in a certain frame of
mind, it qualifies as a sort of pr0n, methinks) is that it was the
opposite of "fubhgl." Cold, tightly-controlled fury is far preferable
to spluttering, blustery fubhgvat, every time.

I don't have the authority 'round these parts to compel vendors like
that, and what vendors have worked directly for me over the years have
really been pretty good. (Maybe it's because I tell them what I
expect in plain English. Nahhhhh.)

I do have fond memories of being called in response to a "customer
satisfaction survey" by a development VP of a Really Large Vendor (the
one whose name is uncomfortably close to a U.S. brand of lard). We
had a very stimulating (for me) chat about their appallingly crappy
poxy product, in which I actually got to say (something very close to)
the following:

There is simply no excuse for this behavior (breaking a
certain flavor of authentication). It's bad, stupid, lazy
programming and an inexcusable failure of testing. If you
have another explanation for why something should break a
simple and obvious standard of behavior, I'm willing to
listen. <pause to brief silence on line>

...

[on their abysmally bad ssh/sftp support]

You know, I get the whole "cost/benefit" thing, I really do.
I use calculations like that in my own personal and
professional life every day. But this software is FREE. It's
already been written for you by a lot of smart people. It
costs no more to get and use than a Shakespeare sonnet. It's
out there.

It's amazing how much better unloading on someone really senior WHO IS
ASKING FOR IT can make you feel.

It's not lard. Please do not besmirch the good reputation of vegetable
shortening products.

Isn't hydrogenated vegetable oil full of trans-fats and doesn't pure
lard have none?
