I beg to differ. After seeing all the difficulties he got himself into I
was very, very careful in my use of vicodin. Yes, I understand that to a
large extent he was only using it as prescribed (and needed) but I
decided to learn from his experience and give myself as little chance as
possible to become dependent on them.

BTW, I recently saw a T shirt reading "Who, MD."

You seem to be thinking of the fictional Dr. Gregory House, not the real
Dr. William House.

It could have been hilarious to have Rowan Atkinson as a guest star on
"House M.D.".

I sit corrected. It's been a while since I saw the show and I'd

I approve of this product/service.

What is the process for nominating people for you to kick? Because
I've got more names on my list than I have kicking resources.

From looking at a map/google images, you're really near to a lot of
rather pretty countryside - which is hardly making me jealous at all.

Hardly at all.

And just down the road from a monastery related SF author and across the

We're about a 5-10min drive from some damn nice shorefront, and if
we drive north for about 90mins we get to some seriously scenic bits.

And Pitlochry, but that can't be helped.

We've got some snow forecast for the weekend, so a drive north with my
trusty old EOS350 may be on the cards.

There's a lot of Monastry riff-raff in, around or from
Embra. I have often wondered why.

Could be weather related.

There are certain pubs they can be found in. They were
very nice to me last time I was in Embra.

I accepted his wife's offer to show me the pubs of Edinburgh, and somewhat
foolishly elected to do it over Hogmanay. Ow, my liver. But I'd do it again!
After two days, I even had to have a Scottish Breakfast with one of my pints in
a vain attempt to soak up the worst of the damage.

AFAICS, the difference between a Full English and a Scottish Breakfast is that
in the former, the cup of tea is deep-fried with everything else, whereas in
Scotland, it's the breakfast beer that gets the oil slick. But at least the
scotch is left *well* alone. That's saved for elevenses!

Ya Bastard. Why weren't you there 2 years ago when I was in Edinburgh
without adequate (read: any) research (little did I know the
university and St Andrews was graduating that night), and spent until
midnight finding accommodation and eventually only succeeding when I
got all the way up to Dundee? Dundee is a hole. And expensive hole.

Also, I needed a drink that night.

On the plus side, the entire town just over the bridge into the Isle
of Skye smells like scotch. On the minus side, I had to get the bike
across the channel and back into Germany 2 days later.

I've always thought the Monastery was somewhat corrupt Iro-Scottish
mission although I cannot explain exactly why and besides that
would be too much meta-monking.

That explains your hurry at breakfast 1 day later. (Wammes says hi.)

Incidentally, we came through Hof station this summer. I watched for
signs of the former wall in the landscape, but didn't spot it.

Alas not all the cats anymore :(

I wish I had so much more time. I took a rest day between the 2
subtours (almost took another rest day when my body decided to give
out from underneath me), and rode 30km up to the wall museum. Then
across the border into Czech. Crazy part of the world (although I was
a bit surprised at how long it took to ride across Belgium. I thought
it would only take a few seconds). I need to fit a very tall snorkel
on my bike to travel internationally anywhere around here.

Welcome to East Lothian. I'm just a few miles further east. Oh, and
the family lived in Prestonpans a few generations back.
